They got off to a poor beginning, losing Aiden Markram in the third over. After that, they kept losing wickets one after another. Even though Nicholas Pooran, Ayush Badoni, and David Miller tried to fight back, they still lost the match by 54 runs. Bishnoi, however, gave the fans a brief moment to cheer with his batting. He came in to bat in the 16th over after David Miller got out.
He tried to stay in the middle and scored 13 runs off 14 balls, with two sixes. The first six he hit were against Corbin Bosch and his second six came against the premier pacer Jasprit Bumrah.
On the final delivery of 18 th ball, Jasprit Bumrah bowled a length ball, and Ravi Bishnoi smashed it over long-on for a six. After hitting the six, he was seen celebrating aggressively while looking at Jasprit Bumrah, and the Lucknow SuperGiants captain, Rishabh Pant, and mentor Zaheer Khan were in disbelief, sitting in the dugout.
MI’s leading wicket-taker, Jasprit Bumrah, was deep into his spell with the match nearly sealed when Bishnoi took him on. A delivery of length ball from Bumrah was dispatched powerfully over long-on for a towering six, smashing Bumrah’s opportunity of a five-wicket haul. Bishnoi celebrated the moment wildly in front of Bumrah.
The reaction did not go unnoticed. Bumrah, ever the composite figure, cracked a wry smile at Bishnoi's celebration. But the moment didn’t end there. In the dugout, Lucknow’s captain Rishabh Pant was seen laughing and pointing at Bishnoi.
Earlier, the Mumbai Indians had ignited the match with aggressive batting. Leg-spinner Suryakumar Yadav maintained his impressive IPL 2025 season, scoring his third half-century and surpassing the 400-run milestone. His 28-ball 54, with four sixes and four fours, ensured Mumbai’s momentum was alive despite a few quick wickets falling.
Despite strong contributions from Suryakumar and Rickelton that helped MI build a competitive total, Lucknow’s bowlers, including Mayank Yadav (2/40) and Digvesh Rathi (1/48), struggled to contain the runs. MI finished with a challenging 215/7, thanks to Naman Dhir's quickfire 25* off 11 balls and debutant Corbin Bosch’s 20 off 10 balls, adding extra momentum.
