Prasidh Krishna was named the player of the match for his splendid bowling performance against the Mumbai Indians. The right-arm pacer picked up two important wickets of Suryakumar Yadav and Tilak Varma. Along with his crucial scalps, the pacer also bowled with great control conceding only 18 runs in his four overs.
Sai Sudharsan like the previous against the Punjab Kings top scored for the Gujarat Titans. The left-handed opening batter along with Shubman Gill took a toll on the MI bowlers in the powerplay. However, there was a phase of play where he batted a bit slowly. He was greatly supported by Jos Buttler during those few overs. Sudharsan managed to score 63 runs in his knock hitting four fours and two sixes.
Prasidh Krishna produced a match-winning spell in the second innings and was easily the best bowler on display across both teams. The tall pacer was right into the action when he came on to bowl the 12th over. He struck with his third ball in the match and picked up Tilak Varma’s wicket. He then dismissed Suryakumar Yadav as well on the final ball of the 16th over. But what set Prasidh apart from the rest of the bowlers was his economy. In modern-day T20 cricket where scores of 200 are not safe anymore, Krishna conceded only 18 runs in his four overs.
Mohammed Siraj went wicketless on his debut for the Gujarat Titans against the Punjab Kings. He had endured a tough night in the previous game but made a strong comeback against the Mumbai Indians. He picked up Rohit Sharma’s wicket in the first over of the second innings. In the powerplay, Siraj struck again to account for Ryan Rickelton’s wicket.
Hardik Pandya was the best bowler for the visitors in the first innings. Coming back to the Narendra Modi Stadium to face his former franchise, the all-rounder picked up two wickets. He also produced a great run-out with a direct hit to cap off a great performance on the field.
Suryakumar Yadav coming into this game had a pretty few tough months in international cricket. It looked like the middle-order batter had lost his touch with the bat in hand and was struggling to deal with the pressure of captaincy. Meanwhile, as he returned to the MI team as a player tonight, his form came back with him. Even though, SKY could not get his team the crucial two points he played a great 48-run knock.
Sai Sudharsan was the star performer for the Gujarat Titans with the bat in hand in the first innings. The left-handed batter built upon his form from the previous game and scored another half-century in the season. He made 63 runs in 41 balls and was greatly supported by Shubman Gill and Jos Buttler. Gill and Buttler too played fighting knocks worth 38 and 39 runs respectively.
For the Indians, skipper, Hardik Pandya was the star performer with the ball in hand. The Indian all-rounder picked up a couple of wickets dismissing his opposite number and Shahrukh Khan. Apart from Hardik, Trent Boult, Deepak Chahar, Mujeeb ur Rahman, and Satyanarayana Raju picked up a wicket each as well.
Mumbai Indians batting started with a wicket in the first over. Mohammed Siraj was the wicket-taker in the first over getting Rohit Sharma back to the pavillion. He struck once again in the powerplay to dismiss Ryan Rickelton. In the middle overs, there were a few positives for the visitors as Suryakumar Yadav regained some form. The right-handed batter scored 48 runs in 28 deliveries and received some support from Tilak Varma.
However, the introduction of Prasidh Krishna into the attack completely turned the game on its head. The tall pacer broke the back of the MI batting order. He claimed two wickets dismissing the two top scorers from MI. Along with his two wickets, Krishna also bowled with great control and conceded only 18 runs in his four overs.
