Mukesh Kumar was named the player of the match for an incredible spell in the first innings. The right-arm pacer picked up two wickets in an over twice in the innings. However, he possibly restricted LSG to a below-par score with his double-wicket 14th over. He dismissed Abdul Samad, who was looking scratchy. But it was the wicket of Mitchell Marsh, who had settled in with his knock, that changed the game. He picked up two more wickets in the final over in spite of going for three fours on the first three balls.

It all went downhill for the hosts from that point forward.
