Aiden Markram was named the player of the match for his match-winning knock. The South African batter smashed 58 runs in only 31 balls. His knock not only allowed LSG to dominate the powerplay but also helped skipper, Rishabh Pant who was opening the innings to take his time before settling in. Markram never let his foot off the accelerator and maintained a strike rate of 187 during the knock hitting nine fours.
Aiden Markram amidst all the chaos from the bat of Nicholas Pooran played a fine knock. He scored 58 runs off 31 deliveries only striking at a rate of 187. Unlike the West Indian batter, Markram relied on classical shots and hitting fours. Markram struck nine fours in his innings while hitting only a solitary sixer.
Nicholas Pooran again continued with his great form in the season. The left-handed batter played a match-winning knock for the Super Giants during their chase. He smashed 61 runs in only 34 balls. Pooran smashed a four and seven sixes in his innings. Chasing 181, Pooran’s knock allowed LSG to easily win the match even though there were some hiccups in the end.
Shubman Gill played a match-winning knock opening the innings. The GT skipper after being put into bat made the LSG bowlers toil hard in the afternoon heat at the Ekana Stadium. He shared a 120-run opening stand with Sai Sudharsan which is the highest for the first wicket in this season. Even after making 60 runs in only 38 balls, Gill walked off the pitch with disappointment having been dismissed on a ball that he would have hit for six nine times out of ten. The right-handed batter smashed six fours and a solitary six in his innings.
Sai Sudharsan has been one of the best batters in the season. He has been consistently performing for the Gujarat Titans and is one of the biggest reasons behind Gujarat Titans' impressive season so far. The left-handed batter carried on with his fine form in the season by smashing another half-century in the season. He scored 56 runs in 37 balls hitting seven fours and a six.
It was a tale of two halves in the first innings. The opening stand between Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan had put the Titans right on top of this clash. The two Indian batters shared a 120-run stand for the first wicket. When these two were batting it looked like the visitors would end up with a score in excess of 220.
However, once Shubman Gill was dismissed in the 13th over, all went downhill for his team. They quickly found themselves three wickets down with only 127 runs on the board. The LSG bowlers made a great comeback in the first innings. In the last eight overs, LSG conceded only 60 runs and successfully restricted the Titans to a score of 180 runs.
