Ishan Kishan was named the player of the match for scoring a century. The left-handed scored 106 runs in only 47 deliveries hitting 11 fours and six sixes. Kishan remained unbeaten till the end of the innings and looked like he would power SRH through to the first 300 total in the history of the IPL.
Ishan Kishan was the best player on display for the Sunrisers Hyderabad. The left-handed batter added to their explosive top-order consisting of Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head as opening batters. What was astonishingly good for the fans of Orange Army was that he played at a better strike rate than Head and Abhishek. He reached his fifty in only 25 balls and took another 20 balls to reach the triple-figure mark. He became the first centurion of the season.
Travis Head picked up right from where he left off in the previous season. The Australian opening batter scored 67 runs in 31 balls and provided a great start to the batting innings. He laid the platform on which Ishan Kishan scored a century.
Dhruv Jurel was the shining star for the Rajasthan Royals in the second innings. The wicketkeeper batter scored 70 runs off 35 deliveries before being dismissed by Adam Zampa. He and Sanju Samson shared a 111-run stand for the fourth wicket and reduced the margin of the loss for the Royals.
Sanju Samson was not captaining the Royals, however, batted like a leader in the second innings. The Indian batter scored 66 runs off 37 deliveries. He opened the innings and saw the first three wickets tumbling in front of him but remained strong and shared a great stand with Jurel for the fourth wicket.
Sunrisers Hyderabad bossed the first innings as they scored 286 runs in their 20 overs. Ishan Kishan with a great century powered them to the highest score of the season so far. Travis Head made a half-century at a brisk pace laying the foundation for the likes of Kishan and Heinrich Klaasen. With the ball in hand, Tushar Deshpande took three wickets. Two of these wickets came in the last over which prevented SRH from breaking their own record for the highest total in IPL history.
The second innings proved that the match between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Rajasthan Royals was a no-contest. SRH chasing the mammoth target of 287 runs was never in the hunt. They lost their first three wickets pretty early in the chase. Yashasvi Jaiswal, Riyan Parag, and Nitish Rana were dismissed in the first powerplay. Dhruv Jurel and Sanju Samson shared a century stand for the fourth wicket. However, chasing the mammoth target they were never in the game and in the end lost the match by 44 runs.
