11:18 PM: DC wins the thriller by 1 wicket

The Delhi Capitals have eeked out a win from the jaws of defeat. Ashutosh Sharma has played a blinder to show why he is one of the best finishers among the young Indian batters. He sealed the win with a six down the ground on the third ball of the over. Rishabh Pant was presented with a golden opportunity to seal the win on the first ball of the last over but he missed a stumping.

11:12 PM: 6 required off the last over

Delhi Capitals are at 204/9 after 19 overs. Need 6 runs in 6 balls. Ashutosh: 60* (30)

Ashutosh Sharma had shown what he could do if the match goes to the last few overs in IPL 2024. The 26-year-old has once again managed to make a game out of nothing.

11:09 PM: It’s down to the last wire

Delhi Capitals are at 192/9 after 18.3 overs. Need 18 runs in 9 balls. Ashutosh: 48* (27)

Kuldeep Yadav channelled his inner batsman and struck a very important four on the first ball of the penultimate over. However, as he was trying to steal a cheeky single on the third ball of the over he was run out on the bowler’s end by Prince Yadav. The Capitals in spite of being nine wickets down have managed to stay in this game.

11:07 PM: Can Ashutosh get DC their first win?

Delhi Capitals are at 188/8 after 18 overs. Need 22 runs in 12 balls. Ashutosh: 48* (27), Kuldeep: 1* (2)

Ashutosh Sharma struck two sixes and a four to end the 18th over. Who will bowl the all-important penultimate over for LSG?

11:02 PM: Eighth down for the Capitals

Delhi Capitals are at 171/8 after 17.1 overs. Need 39 runs in 17 balls. Ashutosh: 32* (24)

Ravi Bishnoi comes back into the attack after proving to be expensive in his first three overs. The right-arm leg-spinner struck with his first ball on the over and accounted for Mitchell Starc’s wicket.

11:00 PM: Digvesh has brought LSG back in the game

Delhi Capitals are at 171/7 after 17 overs. Need 39 runs in 18 balls. Ashutosh: 32* (24), Starc: 2* (4)

The 18th season of the Indian Premier League is living up to its expectation. In the four games it has thrown a few lesser-known players into limelight. It was Vignesh Puthur yesterday for the Mumbai Indians. While Vipraj Nigam had almost turned this game on its head for the Delhi Capitals. For LSG, Digvesh Rathi with the ball has been gold.

10:53 PM: Has DC taken the game away from LSG?

Delhi Capitals are at 168/6 after 16 overs. Need 42 runs in 24 balls. Ashutosh: 31* (23), Vipraj: 39* (14)

No one would have expected the Delhi Capitals to get this close when they had lost half of their side with only 65 runs on the board. Vipraj Nigam is playing a blinder of a knock and as the pacer come back into the attack it seems like Ashutosh Sharma has joined the party as well. Ashutosh welcomed Prince Yadav in his fresh spell with a six and a four on the first two balls of the 16th over. Vipraj then struck two more fours on the fourth and the fifth ball of the over to finish the over with the same intent.

10:49 PM: Vipraj showing how it’s done!!!

Delhi Capitals are at 148/6 after 15 overs. Need 62 runs in 30 balls. Ashutosh: 20* (20), Vipraj: 30* (11)

Vipraj Nigam is playing a great knock even though it will probably come in a losing cause. The right-handed batter is turning the heat against the LSG spinners. He smashed Bishnoi for two fours and a six in the 14th over. Shahbaz Ahmed was welcomed into the attack with a four by Nigam on the first ball of the 15th. He then smashed a six on the fourth ball.

On a day when the most experienced batters for the Capitals failed, Nigam showed how to bat patiently on this surface. Can he bring DC back into this game?

10:44 PM: Spin to win for LSG

Delhi Capitals are at 133/6 after 14 overs. Need 77 runs in 36 balls. Ashutosh: 18* (18), Vipraj: 18* (7)

The spinners for LSG have weaved a web to tangle the DC batters. They have bowled 10 of the 14 overs bowled so far in the second innings. The trio of Siddharth, Digvesh Rathi, and Bishnoi has a combined figures of 10-0-103-4. The most experienced among the trio has been the most expensive with Bishnoi conceding 36 runs in his three overs.

10:38 PM: Could LSG take an early lead on the points table?

Delhi Capitals are at 114/6 after 12.4 overs. Need 86 runs in 44 balls. Ashutosh: 16* (16)

Siddharth came back into the attack to dismiss Tristan Stubbs. He was hit for two sixes on the first two balls of the over. However, the off-spinner bounced back strongly to pick up the wicket on the third ball. The Sunrisers Hyderabad currently sits at the top of the points table in the IPL 2025. The Orange Army registered a 44-run victory against the Rajasthan Royals in the first afternoon game of the season.

The Lucknow Super Giants look in a great position to take an early lead on the points table. Will they be able to take the rest of the four DC wickets quickly in order to leapfrog the Sunrisers.

10:28 PM: LSG all over the hosts

Delhi Capitals are at 95/5 after 11 overs. Need 115 runs in 9 overs. Stubbs: 19* (15), Ashutosh: 14* (14)

For the better part of the innings the result of this match has looked inevitable. Even though the Capitals were losing wickets regularly from the very first over they were scoring at a rate of close to 10 runs per over. However, in the last couple of overs, the LSG spinners have tightened the screws by putting a stop to the flow of runs.

10:25 PM: DC look to reduce the margin of loss

Delhi Capitals are at 88/5 after 10 overs. Need 122 runs in 10 overs. Stubbs: 13* (11), Ashutosh: 13* (12)

The Delhi Capitals are already out of this game even with 10 overs of play left. Such is the dominance showed by the Super Giants. The Capitals will hope that the pair of Stubbs and Ashutosh provide some solidarity to the batting order and reduce the margin of the inevitable loss.

10:15 PM: All over for the Capitals

Delhi Capitals are at 72/5 after 8 overs. Need 138 runs in 12 overs. Stubbs: 4* (5), Ashutosh: 6* (6)

The dismissal of Faf du Plessis looks to be the final nail in the coffin for the Delhi Capitals. It has been an underwhelming performance from the hosts as they lost half of their side with only 65 runs on the board.

10:05 PM: LSG ends the powerplay on a high

Delhi Capitals are at 58/4 after 6 overs. Need 152 runs in 14 overs. Faf: 23* (15), Stubbs: 2* (2)

The Lucknow Super Giants have bossed both the powerplays in the match. They had scored 64 runs in the first innings. In the second innings the Super Giants has reduced the hosts for 58 for the loss of four wickets. DC could be put out of their misery pretty soon looking at the state they find themselves in after the first six overs. Even though DC are striking at close to 10 runs per over the loss of four wickets would mean that they will surely have no chance of winning this game.

9:54 PM: A much-needed big over for the Capitals

Delhi Capitals are at 32/3 after 4 overs. Need 178 runs in 16 overs. Faf: 14* (9), Axar: 13* (7)

The fourth over of the innings went for 15 runs. Sidharth after giving away only two runs in his first over was smashed for a six by Axar on the first ball. Faf too joined the party by smashing a four down the ground to continue with the run-scoring intent.

9:50 PM: Can the captain and vice-captain string together a stand?

Delhi Capitals are at 17/3 after 3 overs. Need 193 runs in 17 overs. Faf: 6* (5), Axar: 6* (5)

The Delhi Capitals are in a desperate need to put together a partnership for the fourth wicket. Skipper, Axar Patel is at the crease with his vice-captain, Faf du Plessis. The two would have to bat out of their skins to rescue the hosts from an embarrassing defeat.

9:46 PM: DC in deep trouble

Delhi Capitals are at 8/3 after 2 overs. Need 202 runs in 18 overs. Faf: 2* (3)

Impact player, Manimaran Siddharth picked up the third wicket for the Super Giants ending any chance for a win that the Delhi Capitals might have had. The hosts have been put on the backfoot after only 12 balls in the second innings.

9:43 PM: Thakur picks two in his 1st over

Delhi Capitals are at 6/2 after 1 over. Need 204 runs in 19 overs. Faf: 1* (1)

Shardul Thakur after going unsold in the auction returned to action in some fashion. The right-arm pacer picked up two wickets in his first over. Thakur got rid of the dangerous Jake Fraser-McGurk and Abhishek Porel in the first over of the second innings.

9:20 PM: DC needs 210 runs to win

The Lucknow Super Giants were 161/2 in 13.4 but their batters lost the plot. First it was the big-money signing, Rishabh Pant to be dismissed for a four-ball duck on his debut for LSG. In the following over, Mitchell Starc got Nicholas Pooran’s wicket who had scored 75 runs in 30 balls.

Ayush Badoni batting at number seven got out after making only four runs in the 17th over. To make matters worse, Shardul Thakur ran himself out in the same over. Shahbaz Ahmed made nine runs before he was dismissed in the penultimate over. Starc got his third wicket of the night on the last ball of his spell with a great yorker which was too good for Ravi Bishnoi.

The Super Giants made 49 in the last 38 legal deliveries they faced in the match. Will the incompetency shown by the batters in the last 40 odds balls come to bite them back in the second innings? Let’s find out.

9:00 PM: Kuldeep gets his second wicket of the match

Lucknow Super Giants are at 177/5 after 16.2 overs. Miller: 6* (8)

The Delhi Capitals have applied the brakes at the best possible time. The left-handed trio of Kuldeep, Starc, and Axar have proven to be unplayable for the LSG batters. Miller survived a great LBW shout against him on the first ball of the 17th over. However, Kuldeep struck on the very next delivery picking up Ayush Badoni’s wicket.

8:52 PM: Pooran’s fiery knock comes to an end

Lucknow Super Giants are at 170/4 after 15 overs. Miller: 3* (4), Badoni: 1* (1)

Mitchell Starc shows why he is considered to be one of the most dangerous bowlers in the world of cricket. The Australian left-armer got some movement in the air even in the 15th over to end a fiery knock by Nicholas Pooran. The left-handed batter scored 75 runs in 30 balls.

Kuldeep Yadav and Starc has pulled this game back for the Capitals. They have bowled the 14th and 15th over conceding only nine runs.

8:42 PM: Mr. Money goes for a duck

The most expensive signing in the history of the Indian Premier League, Rishabh Pant only managed to score a duck on his first game for the Lucknow Super Giants.

8:37 PM: Nicholas Pooran goes bang hits four sixes in a row

Lucknow Super Giants are at 161/2 after 13 overs. Pooran: 70* (27), Pant: 0* (2)

There is seldom anything more beautiful than Nicholas Pooran’s batting when he is on song. Tristan Stubbs bore the brunt of his Pooran’s aggression as he was smashed four sixes in a row and a four on the last ball of the 13th over.

8:32 PM: Mukesh Kumar gets the important wicket

Lucknow Super Giants are at 133/2 after 12 overs. Pooran: 41* (20), Pant: 0* (2)

Mukesh Kumar has provided the much-needed breakthrough for the Delhi Capitals. Mitchell Marsh after playing a gem of a knock has to make the long walk back to the pavilion. The Australian all-rounder scored 72 runs in 36 balls having smashed six fours and sixes each.

8:26 PM: LSG tightens their grip over the match

Lucknow Super Giants are at 125/1 after 11 overs. Marsh: 65* (33), Pooran: 41* (20)

The Lucknow Super Giants after the first 11 overs are firmly seated in the driving seat. The visitors thanks to the duo of Pooran and Marsh are pretty well positioned to get a huge total. Axar Patel’s first game as the skipper has already put him under a lot of pressure. It will be test of his character as DC tries to turn the match in their favor.

8:16 PM: LSG in great position after the first 9 overs

Lucknow Super Giants are at 108/1 after 9 overs. Marsh: 57* (27), Pooran: 33* (14)

Lucknow Super Giants are in a great position after the first nine overs. Overseas batters, Marsh and Pooran have seemed to take a page out of SRH’s book. Both batters are going bonkers.

The Super Giants are off to a flying start can they set up a huge total for their inexperienced bowling attack to defend? Let’s find out in the final 11 overs of the first innings.

8:07 PM: Pooran-Marsh create havoc on DC bowlers

Lucknow Super Giants are at 98/1 after 8 overs. Marsh: 51* (23), Pooran: 31* (12)

Axar Patel’s bowlers have been pretty abysmal and have not received any support from their fielders who too have been pretty shoddy. Nicholas Pooran has scored 31 runs in 12 balls. He was dropped by Sameer Rizvi in the seventh over when he was batting on 17. Marsh on the other hand has brought up a quickfire 50 to announce his arrival in some great style.

7:52 PM: Nigam gets his first wicket on debut

Lucknow Super Giants are at 50/1 after 5 overs. Marsh: 31* (15), Pooran: 4* (2)

Right-arm leg-spinner, Vipraj Nigam has taken his first wicket in the Indian Premier League on debut. The DC spinner accounted for Aiden Markram’s wicket as he was looking to clear the long-off boundary. Starc completed the catch as the South African departs after scoring 15 runs in 13 balls.

Mitchell Marsh after being out of action for a long time has announced his arrival in some style. The Australian all-rounder has scored 26 runs in only 13 balls. The right-hander has smashed Starc for 20 runs in the five balls he has faced against him.

5:40 PM: Predicted playing XIIs

Delhi Capitals and Lucknow Super Giants are possibly two of the weaker sides in the 18th season of the Indian Premier League. The hosts, DC could miss their star Indian batter, KL Rahul as he is expecting his first child. In the LSG camp, pacer Mohsin Khan has been ruled out from the entirety of the season. Shardul Thakur has joined the team to replace him.

Mohsin’s injury could be a blessing in disguise as Shardul Thakur provides a much-needed balance to the side. However, there are still plenty of questions about their team. The Capitals on the other hand have a settled core of Indian players. They will be going into the clash with Axar Patel as their captain. LSG will be led by former DC skipper, Rishabh Pant.

Here is a look at the predicted playing XIIs of both teams. Take a look at the players and do not forget to include them in your DC vs LSG Dream 11 prediction.
