Royal Challengers Bengaluru have kept their winning streak away from home alive. They have now won five games away from Bengaluru. However, the Rajat Patidar-led side would want to reverse their record at Chinnaswamy Stadium, where they have lost three games so far.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru are at 132/2 after 16 overs. Need 26 runs in 24 balls. Kohli: 57* (46), Patidar: 12* (12)
Arshdeep Singh conceded 10 runs in the 16th over, easing the pressure on the visitors. RCB would be the firm favorite to chase 26 runs in the last four overs.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru are at 122/2 after 15 overs. Need 36 runs in 30 balls. Kohli: 50* (43), Patidar: 9* (9)
Virat Kohli created history with his half-century. The right-handed batter has now smashed 67 fifty-plus scores in the IPL, which is more than any other batter in the history of the tournament.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru are at 112/2 after 13 overs. Need 46 runs in 42 balls. Kohli: 47* (38), Patidar: 2* (2)
Harpreet Brar has picked up his first wicket of the match. The left-arm spinner has his best record against RCB. While half-centurion Devdutt Padikkal is back in the dressing room, the danger man, Virat Kohli, is still at the crease.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru are at 95/1 after 11 overs. Need 63 runs in 54 balls. Kohli: 42* (32), Padikkal: 51* (31)
Devdutt Padikkal completed his half-century in only 30 balls. The left-handed batter has already smashed four fours and three sixes in his knock.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru are at 75/1 after 9 overs. Need 83 runs in 66 balls. Kohli: 35* (26), Padikkal: 38* (25)
Harpreet Brar has pulled things back for the hosts slightly with his second over. After conceding 11 runs in his first over, the left-arm spinner gave away only six runs in the ninth over.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru are at 69/1 after 8 overs. Need 89 runs in 72 balls. Kohli: 34* (23), Padikkal: 33* (22)
Devdutt Padikkal is playing a match-winning knock here. The left-handed batter welcomed Yuzvendra Chahal into his spell with a six on the first ball. Chahal has been the most improved bowler in the season in the last few games.
Virat Kohli on the opposite end is too playing with a strike rate of close to 150 and a great supporting hand to Padikkal.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru are at 54/1 after 6 overs. Need 104 runs in 14 overs. Kohli: 31* (20), Padikkal: 22* (13)
Devdutt Padikkal and Virat Kohli have put the visitors in a great position at the end of the power play. The two batters are playing with a positive attitude and are taking on any loose deliveries. Running between the wickets, too, has been great for both batters, and they have run pretty hard so far in their partnership.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru are at 31/1 after 4 overs. Need 127 runs in 16 overs. Kohli: 13* (11), Padikkal: 17* (10)
Devdutt Padikkal has continued to play with positive intent today. He is striking at a rate of more than 18.
If the first innings is anything to go by, the power play could prove to be the best time to bat. The pitch slowed down in the middle overs in the first innings, and spinners had a massive say in the proceedings.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru are at 12/1 after 2 overs. Need 146 runs in 18 overs. Kohli: 11* (9), Padikkal: 0* (0)
Virat Kohli would be the most important wicket for Punjab Kings as they try to defend 158 runs. It is right up in his alley, which has given him the reputation of being the master of chases in white-ball cricket.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru are at 6/1 after 1 over. Need 152 runs in 19 overs. Kohli: 4* (2)
Arshdeep Singh has provided the first breakthrough for the hosts, and it will give them some confidence in defending this total.
The chase of 158 runs could prove to be slightly tricky for the visitors if there are more wickets in the power play.
RCB restricted the hosts to a score of 157 runs. The visitors bounced back strongly after the power play, where PBKS batters were looking to attack. Rajat Patidar and his batters would be the favorites to chase this total down to maintain their winning streak away from home.
After Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh provided a blistering start in the power play, the other batters could not carry on with the same intent. In the last four overs, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Josh Hazlewood put on the choke on the hosts. Both bowlers nailed their yorkers. The two bowlers conceded only 28 runs in the last 24 balls and conceded only a six on the final ball of the innings.
Punjab Kings are at 134/6 after 17 overs. Shashank: 21* (23), Jansen: 12* (12)
Bhuvneshwar Kumar came back into the attack to bowl his third over. The right-arm pacer bowled a quiet over, giving away only five runs in the over.
Punjab Kings are at 129/6 after 16 overs. Shashank: 19* (21), Jansen: 11* (8)
Suyash Sharma bowled out his four overs, ending a successful spell. The right-arm spinner was struck for a six by Jansen in the over, which was only the second boundary he conceded. Both RCB spinners picked up two wickets each in their four overs while bowling slightly over six runs per over.
Punjab Kings are at 114/6 after 14 overs. Shashank: 15* (16), Jansen: 0* (1)
Suyash Sharma sent back the dangerous-looking Josh Inglis by uprooting the off stump. The leg-spinner has struggled in picking up wickets in spite of bowling some great spells this season. In the same over, he dismissed Marcus Stoinis.
PBKS, with these two wickets, have been pushed to the back foot and would want Shashank Singh to carry on for the rest of the 20 overs.
Punjab Kings are at 111/4 after 13 overs. Inglis: 29* (16), Shashank: 13* (14)
Punjab Kings have finally taken some attack on the RCB bowlers. The last couple of overs have resulted in a few boundaries with Josh Inglis stepping on the gas. Romario Shepherd conceded 13 runs in the 12th over, before Krunal Pandya ended his spell with an 11-run over.
Punjab Kings are at 87/4 after 11 overs. Inglis: 11* (10), Shashank: 7* (8)
Royal Challengers Bengaluru have dominated the proceedings since the end of the power play. Shashank Singh, the new batter, struck a four on the second ball of the 11th over. It was the first boundary after 20-odd deliveries for the hosts.
Punjab Kings are at 76/4 after 9 overs. Inglis: 6* (6)
Romario Shepherd, playing his first game of the season, has taken the all-important wicket of Shreyas Iyer. The PBKS skipper only managed to score six runs during his 10-ball stay at the crease. A needless run out on the last ball of the ninth over capped off the phase for PBKS since the end of the power play, with Nehal Wadhera making the long back to the dressing room.
Since the power play, the hosts have slowed down and have scored only 14 runs in three overs while losing three wickets.
Punjab Kings are at 65/2 after 7 overs. Shreyas: 6* (8), Inglis: 2* (2)
Prabhsimran Singh has to depart right after the power play. Krunal Pandya has now dismissed both the opening batters. The left-arm spinner bowled a full-pitched delivery at the stumps, but the right-hander hit it straight to Tim David.
Punjab Kings are at 62/1 after 6 overs. Prabhsimran: 33* (16), Shreyas: 5* (5)
Prabhsimran Singh has put PBKS right on top after the power play. Even though he lost his opening partner in the fifth over, the right-handed batter ended the phase on a high for the hosts. He played a scoop shot for a six against a pace-on delivery by Josh Hazlewood. Skipper, Shreyas Iyer too struck a four in the sixth over, getting his first boundary of the match.
Punjab Kings are at 49/1 after 5 overs. Prabhsimran: 24* (13), Shreyas: 1* (2)
Krunal Pandya came into the attack in the fifth over. He immediately created an impact and broke the opening partnership with only his second delivery in the match. Rajat Patidar’s decision to go with Krunal in the power play paid off with the left-handed spinner taking an important wicket.
Punjab Kings are at 41/0 after 4 overs. Priyansh: 22* (14), Prabhsimran: 19* (10)
Some great cricket from both teams in the fourth over. Josh Hazlewood came into the attack and was right on the money for the first couple of balls. He bowled another good ball on the third delivery, but Priyansh Arya shuffled in his crease to access the long-on boundary, fetching him another four. The left-handed batter smashed another four this time on the off side to end the over.
Punjab Kings are at 31/0 after 3 overs. Priyansh: 13* (9), Prabhsimran: 18* (9)
Prabhsimran Singh also joined the party in the third over, hitting three fours in the over. Bhuvneshwar Kumar was on the receiving end of the attack from the right-handed batter.
Punjab Kings are at 19/0 after 2 overs. Priyansh: 13* (9), Prabhsimran: 6* (3)
Yash Dayal was unable to retain the same amount of pressure created by Bhuvneshwar from the opposite end. The left-arm pacer was welcomed into the attack with a four by Prabhsimran Singh. Priyansh Arya too opened his arms and struck a six on the third ball of the over before splitting the gap between extra cover and mid-off to collect a four.
Punjab Kings are at 2/0 after 1 over. Priyansh: 1* (5), Prabhsimran: 1* (1)
A great start for Royal Challengers Bengaluru, with Bhuvneshwar Kumar bowling with a great amount of control. The veteran pacer gave only two runs in his over.
RCB won the toss and elected to bowl first at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh Stadium in New Chandigarh.
