Sunrisers Hyderabad is the most dangerous team in IPL after the mega auction for IPL 2025. The runner-up from 2024 successfully filled all the gaps and is now this year's most powerful team in IPL.
SRH retained its core group of five players, including Heinrich Klaasen, Pat Cummins, Travis Head, Abhishek Sharma, and Nitish Reddy and is now the strongest team in IPL. These five players cost SRH ₹75 crores. Among their top buys at the auction were Ishan Kishan, Mohammed Shami, Harshal Patel, and Adam Zampa. Chennai Super Kings is another dangerous team in the Indian Premier League, filled with star players to help the team win from any situation.
Besides SRH and CSK, Mumbai Indians and Punjab Kings also look like dangerous team in IPL, after the mega auction. The five-time IPL champions arguably had the best set of retained players. MI retained Jasprit Bumrah, Hardik Pandya, Suryakumar Yadav, Rohit Sharma, and Tilak Varma. MI bought back Trent Boult in their team and added Deepak Chahar to bolster their bowling attack.
PBKS entered the auction with a never-seen-before budget of ₹110.5 crores. With their huge budget, Ricky Ponting-coached side bought Shreyas Iyer for ₹26.75 crores. Iyer became the 2nd most expensive player in the history of IPL. They bought back Arshdeep Singh and added Yuzvendra Chahal to lead the spin attack. Along with Indian stars, PBKS has added Glenn Maxwell, Marco Jansen, and Marcus Stoinis.

10. Rajasthan Royals
Rajasthan Royals is ranked last in the dangerous team in Indian Premier League in 2025. Despite having a balanced squad for the last couple of years, RR could not capitalize and did not win a trophy. Their IPL 2025 journey started with the retentions of Yashasvi Jaiswal, Sanju Samson, Riyan Parag, Dhruv Jurel, Shimron Hetmyer, and Sandeep Sharma. The six retentions cost ₹79 crores.
With a budget of ₹41 crores, RR was often bullied at the auction table by others. They have strengthened their bowling line-up with the addition of Jofra Archer, Wanindu Hasaranga, Maheesh Theekshana, and Tushar Deshpande. However, the inaugural champions do not have a decent all-rounder in their setup.
The absence of an out-and-out all-rounder and a light lower-middle order means that Rajasthan Royals have possibly the poorest squad.

9. Chennai Super Kings
Five-time IPL champions once again showed their experience and the reason behind their success at the auction table. CSK retained Ruturaj Gaikwad, Ravindra Jadeja, Matheesha Pathirana, Shivam Dube, and MS Dhoni. The five retentions cost ₹65 crores for CSK.
Re-uniting with Ravichandran Ashwin and buying Noor Ahmad puts CSK in a great position to prepare spin-friendly tracks at their home. The spin trio of Ashwin, Noor, and Jadeja paper over the cracks in the fast bowling department. They have an experienced batting order right from the openers to number eight.
However, new ball bowling could be cause of concern. They have Mukesh Choudhary, Sam Curran, and Khaleel Ahmed who are the new ball bowling options. According to some fans, CSK also being rated for the most powerful team in IPL. However, none of them has the experience of leading the new ball attack strongly barring Curran to some extent. CSK could well be among one of the top strongest teams in the IPL 2025.

8. Lucknow Supergiants
Lucknow Supergiants players are among some of the poor teams after the Indian premier League 2025 auction. LSG retained Nicholas Pooran, Ravi Bishnoi, Mayank Yadav, Mohsin Khan, and Ayush Badoni. The five retentions cost ₹51 crores. LSG’s issues despite the big budget buy of Rishabh Pant are apparent.
Their top-order is arguably the weakest top-order among the 10 IPL teams. There is a chance that Pant opens the innings alongside Aiden Markram. If that is the case, LSG will have an inexperienced opener in Pant and Markram who has failed to perform consistently in the IPL.
Their bowling attack is an Indian-heavy attack. Mayank, Mohsin, and Bishnoi will lead the attack along with Akash Deep and Avesh Khan. Although both Mayank and Mohsin have had their struggles with injuries and could be doubtful for all 14 matches.

7. Kolkata Knight Riders
The defending champions, Kolkata Knight Riders players certainly do not have the same level of squad they had in the previous season. KKR is ranked 7th among the most dangerous IPL team. The three-time champions retained Rinku Singh, Andre Russell, Sunil Narine, Varun Chakravarthy, Harshit Rana, and Ramandeep Singh. The six retentions cost them ₹69 crores. Most of the players from KKR’s 2024 squad were highly sought-after in the mega auction.
Kolkata Knight Riders lost on their skipper, Shreyas Iyer. The defending champions also lost key players like Phillip Salt and Mitchell Starc. However, if Narine can repeat his batting heroics from the previous season, the defending champions will be expected to have a great season.
They made some smart buys including Umran Malik, Angkrish Raghuvanshi, Quinton de Kock, and Anrich Nortje. The absence of a captaincy option among the regular starters could be a weak point for the 2024 champions.

6. Punjab Kings
With a budget of ₹110.5 crores at the mega auction, Punjab Kings were expected to be in a controlling position during the bidding wars. PBKS retained Prabhsimran Singh and Shashank Singh which left them with a huge budget for the auctions.
PBKS bought back Arshdeep Singh and added the likes of Shreyas Iyer, Yuzvendra Chahal, Glenn Maxwell, Marcus Stoinis, and Marco Jansen to the mix. The biggest weak point of Ricky Ponting's coached PBKS could be filling the second opening slot with Prabhsimran. They could open with Josh Inglis, however, that would mean that PBKS can not play overseas players like Lockie Ferguson and Azmatullah Omarzai among others.
If their top-order can lay the platform for their explosive middle-order, PBKS could go a fair distance in the upcoming season of the IPL.

5. Sunrisers Hyderabad
IPL 2024, runner-up, Sunrisers Hyderabad is the most dangerous in IPL team in 2025. SRH retained Heinrich Klaasen, Pat Cummins, Abhishek Sharma, Travis Head, and Nitish Reddy. SRH spent ₹75 crores for their five retentions. The SRH squad from IPL 2024 ticked almost all of the boxes barring a spinner in the team.
The 2024 runner-up had to let go of bowlers like Bhuvneshwar Kumar and T Natarajan. SRH possibly found the best like-for-like replacements of these two with Mohammed Shami and Harshal Patel. The spin attack was bolstered by the inclusion of Adam Zampa. MI’s Ishan Kishan was bought by them for ₹11.25 crores and could perfectly slot at number four between Nitish Reddy and Klaasen.

4. Royal Challengers Bengaluru
Royal Challengers Bengaluru team is ranked 4th in the strongest team in IPL. Unlike Rajasthan and their royal counterparts, RCB entered the auction with a huge purse. RCB had retained only three players Virat Kohli, Rajat Patidar, and Yash Dayal. Despite a strong top order which includes the likes of Kohli and Phillip Salt, the middle order could prove to be a weak point for last year’s 4th-placed team.
RCB bought Liam Livingstone, Tim David, Jitesh Sharma, and Krunal Pandya to strengthen their middle order. Livingstone and David both are yet to perform consistently in the IPL. Krunal on the other hand could be an under-par batter at the Chinnaswamy Stadium.
Their bowling lineup has improved with the addition of Josh Hazlewood and Bhuvneshwar Kumar. However, the spin department could prove to be a struggling point, especially when they travel away from home.

3. Gujarat Titans
Gujarat Titans and Lucknow Supergiants came to the IPL at the same time. However, while LSG has issues at the top of the order and fast bowlers, GT has these as their strongest points. GT is the 3rd most dangerous IPL team. GT spent ₹51 crores for their five retentions on Rashid Khan, Shubman Gill, Sai Sudharsan, Rahul Tewatia, and Shahrukh Khan.
GT bought Jos Buttler, Mohammed Siraj, Kagiso Rabada, Washington Sundar, and Gerald Coetzee. Buttler and Gill could possibly be the best opening duo in IPL 2025. Siraj, Rabada, and Coetzee along with Prasidh Krishna and Ishant Sharma form a great fast-bowling attack. Among spinners, Rashid Khan and Sundar (if fit) could choke the opponent batters in the middle overs.
GT have a strong and balanced side. The only thing that possibly works against them is their middle order and Gill as the captain.

1. Delhi Capitals
Delhi Capitals is ranked among the most dangerous IPL teams. DC retained Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Tristan Stubbs, and Abhishek Porel. The five retentions cost them ₹47 crores. They bought a balanced opening pair with the aggression of Jake Fraser McGurk and the solidity of KL Rahul. They have a decent batting lineup that includes the likes of Axar, Brook, Stubbs, and Ashutosh Sharma.
Their spin bowling attack will be led by Kuldeep Yadav and Axar. Starc’s fitness and consistency could be key among the fast bowlers. New ball bowling with Starc and Mukesh Kumar could be a weak point in an otherwise balanced bowling attack. KL Rahul is the leading choice for captaining the side, however, the Indian wicketkeeper doesn’t have the strongest CV as the leader in the Indian Premier League.
