Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad Overview

To fulfill the need of handling the large crowd in 2004, the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium was built in an eastern suburb of Uppal, Hyderabad. In the beginning, the stadium was known as Visaka International Cricket Stadium Ground. Later, the former CM Y.S. Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad Pitch Report

Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium’s pitch is generally considered batter-friendly. Over the years, many high-scoring matches have been recorded on this ground. The reason is plainly hidden behind its flat surface and a good bounce. Which offers batters to stroke play and makes it perfect for aggressive batting.

Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium: Batting or Bowling Pitch?

Undoubtedly, the Uppal stadium is a batting pitch. In fact, it is a batter's paradise when it comes to aggressive batting play. The dry nature of the pitch makes it easier for batsmen to send a ball across the boundary. However, the pitch also assists the bowlers in the initial overs, especially fast bowlers.

Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium: Spin and Pace

The Uppal stadium’s pitch favours pacers more than spinners. The fast bowlers can take advantage of an early dry pitch with good bounce to scalp some wickets. For spinners, there’s less scope, but they make the most out of it in later overs. As the match progresses, the pitch gets slow and assists spinners to tighten their grip on the ball.
