KKR’s Captaincy Remains Uncertain Ahead of IPL 2025

During the jersey launch, there was excitement about KKR’s captaincy. A captain has not been announced by the team for IPL 2025 since the leave of Shreyas Iyer for the Punjab Kings in the auction. Venkatsh Iyer has expressed his readiness to take the leadership role if the chance is given, while speaking to ESPNcricinfo. Despite not having any experience at the competitive level, he showed his interest in taking the leadership role. 

“I’m ready. Captaincy is just a tag; what truly matters is leadership. Setting an example on and off the field is crucial, and I believe I have been doing that with Madhya Pradesh. If I get the responsibility, I’ll take it with pride, “said Iyer.

One of the most notable moves was re-signing Venkatesh Iyer for INR 23.75 crore after an intense bidding war with RCB. The left-hander has been with KKR since 2021, scoring 1326 runs in 51 IPL matches and establishing himself as a valuable top-order batter and reliable all-rounder.
