In recent times, Mushfiqur’s form had been in the spotlight. However, he faced increased criticism during the Champions Trophy. Mushfiqur was out for a golden duck against India and scored just 2 against New Zealand. His current ODI half-century was recorded against Sri Lanka in March of the previous year. Due to injuries, he was ruled out of two ODIs against Afghanistan in November, as well as from the West Indies tour in November and December.
Alhamdullilah for everything. While our achievements may have been limited on a global level, one thing is certain: whenever I stepped onto the field for my country, I gave more than 100% with dedication and honesty." Gratitude has been expressed by Mushfiqur for everything. The last few weeks have been extremely difficult for him, and he has realized that this is his destiny.
Mushfiqur has been widely regarded as a legendary figure in Bangladesh’s ODI history, and his major contribution was made in the 2007 World Cup when he was preferred over the veteran Khaled Mashud. The selectors’ trust was immediately confirmed by him, as a half-century was made by him in the historic victory against India in Trinidad.
Mushfiqur soon became a crucial part of the middle order, and except for a short period in 2008 when his place was lost, he remained a consistent presence in the Bangladesh team for almost two decades.
Mushfiqur also achieved the Bangladesh record for most consecutive ODIs, having played 92 matches between 2010 and 2016.
He stopped playing T20Is after the 2022 T20 World Cup. He has played 94 Test matches so far and is set to become the first Bangladeshi to reach 100 Tests.
