KKR and RCB set to clash in IPL 2025 opener

The full schedule of IPL 2025 has not been officially announced by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). However, according to reports the first match between KKR and RCB will take place on the 22nd March. There were reports that the BCCI vice-president, Rajeev Shukla had hinted towards the IPL starting from 23rd March. However, a request from the broadcasters was made to pre-pone it for a day and start from Saturday. 

The final of the tournament will be played on the 25th of May at Eden Gardens. For the playoffs, Qualifier 1 and Eliminator will be played at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. Qualifier 2 and Final on the other hand will be played at the home ground of the defending champions, KKR.

IPL 2024’s runners-up and possibly the most dangerous team in the IPL, Sunrisers Hyderabad will host the second game. The second game will be played on the 23rd of March in the afternoon where SRH will host inaugural champions, Rajasthan Royals. 

IPL 2025 Venues

Speaking of RR, the 2008 champions reportedly will be playing two of their seven home games in Barsapara Stadium in Guwahati. Along with RR, Punjab Kings too will be playing some of their home games away from home. The Shreyas Iyer-led side according to multiple reports will be playing two to three games at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala.

Apart from RR and PBKS the rest of the eight teams will be playing at their respective home venues. Here is a list of teams and their home grounds.
