Thirteen Teams Already Qualified for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026

India and Sri Lanka, being the co-hosts, take the first two places in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 qualified teams. The next seven teams were decided during the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024. Afghanistan, Australia, Bangladesh, England, South Africa, the United States of America (USA), and the West Indies qualified for the 2026 T20 WC as the top 7 teams in the 2024th edition. Ireland, New Zealand, and Pakistan make the cut based on ICC Men’s T20I Team Rankings. Canada is the one team that went on to win 6 out of 6 games in the 2025 Men’s T20 WC 2026 Americas Qualifiers. So they are the 13th team to qualify for the marquee tournament in 2026.

Italy is one of the top Contenders for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026

The Netherlands is currently hosting the European Qualifiers from July 05 to July 11, 2025. Five teams are in the race for the 2026 T20 WC Qualification. Those teams are Italy, Scotland, Jersey, Guernsey, and the Netherlands. Italy is currently leading the points table with 2 wins in 3 games (one game ended in a no-result). With 5 points and a net run rate (NRR) of +1.722, they are one of the top contenders to qualify for the spot in the 2026 T20 WC.

Out of the five teams, the top two teams from the points table will qualify for the spot in the main T20 WC 2026 event. Joe Burns-led side, Italy, are doing well, and they have one game left against the Netherlands on July 11, 2025. The other teams who are in contention are the Netherlands, Jersey, and Scotland. If Italy fails to win their last game, their chance to go ahead will depend on NRR. Jersey and Scotland will decide things when they play each other in their last game.

Africa and Asia Qualifiers to Decide the Remaining Five Teams

The ICC (International Cricket Council) has scheduled an Africa Qualifier and an Asia and Pacific Qualifier in September and October, respectively. The remaining five teams will be decided from these two events. Zimbabwe will host the Africa Qualifiers from September 19 to October 04, 2025. A total of eight teams will participate in the Africa Qualifiers. Out of those eight, only the top two teams from the points table will qualify for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 spot. The teams that will feature in the Africa Qualifiers are Botswana, Zimbabwe, Kenya, Malawi, Namibia, Nigeria, Tanzania, and Uganda.

Oman will host the Asia and Pacific Qualifiers from October 1 to 17, 2025. Nine teams will take part in the tournament, competing for the top three places on the points table. The teams that will finish in the top three of the points table will feature in the main event of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 next year in India and Sri Lanka. The teams that will participate in the Asia and Pacific Qualifiers are Oman, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Japan, Kuwait, Nepal, Malaysia, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates.

Conclusion

So these are the 13 teams that have already qualified for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026. We have also discussed the qualification scenarios for the other teams and the dates for the qualifier events. At the moment, it looks like Italy will create history by qualifying for the T20 WC main event for the first time. Joe Burns, who used to be an Australian player, now has the ambition to take Italian cricket to new heights. Interesting times ahead. What do you think? Who are the other remaining teams that will qualify for the T20 WC 2026? Comment on your predictions below.
