10. Fleming responded “ Wait till the end and see who wins the IPL”.

After losing against the RCB at the Chepauk on match number 8, CSK head coach Stephen Fleming lost his cool at a journalist when he asked about the outdated approach of CSK. The journalist asked “ In the first game, you chased 156 in almost 20 overs. Today, you scored 146. I know this is your way of playing cricket, but do you think it’s kind of getting outdated? To which Fleming responded angrily and said “ You talk about firepower. We have got firepower all the way through. I don’t understand this question. Just because we don’t swing from ball No.1 and have some luck go our way, just see the end, who wins it. It is a positive brand of cricket. Don’t discount us”.

Verdict - At the end, Fleming couldn’t justify his words as CSK performed poorly and remained last in the points table. The team saw its worst season in the IPL yet with Back to back two seasons for CSK not qualifying for play-offs.

Silver Lining - The team made multiple replacements for injured and unavailable players and by the last match seems to have developed a younger team to take up the mantle in the next season. Some of the emerging talents were - Ayush Mhatre, Dewald Bravis, Urvil Patel etc.

9.Shreyas Announced “We have lost the battle, not the war”

After the terrible loss in the Qualifier 1 against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru, PBKS captain Shreyas Iyer showed his never-say-die attitude. In the Qualifier 1 match against the RCB, PBKS batted poorly with the bat as they bowled out for 101 and none of the batters showed any kind of application and lost to RCB comprehensively by eight wickets inside ten overs. Therefore in the post match presentation, Shreyas said “ We have lost the battle, not the war”

Verdict - PBKS has indeed reached the IPL final but at the end RCB won the war, Iyer performed exceptionally well during the clash with Mumbai Indians for the Qualifier 2 but eventually was dismissed at 1 (2) in the final and hence Sheryas Iyer couldn’t keep his words.

Silver Lining - PBKS has developed a strong team under their Captain Shreyas Iyer and Coach Ricky Ponting grooming capped players like Prabsimran Singh, Priyansh Arya, Shashank Singh, Harpreet Brar and Vyshak. At the closing ceremony Iyer announced that “Job is still half done, we have to receive the trophy next year.

8. Rayudu’s biased statement towards RCB

Before the start of the IPL former CSK player Ambati Rayudu made a bold statement while giving an interview to Raw Talks Podcast saying that he doesn’t want RCB to win the IPL. In the interview Rayudu said “ I feel it’s a matter of time, they (RCB) will get the trophy. But definitely, I just hope and pray that the year doesn’t come (laughing)”. Rayudu as a commentator and analyst always tried to underestimate the RCB team as he is loyal to the Chennai Super Kings team. Even while doing commentary Rayudu had shown his loyalty towards CSK.

Verdict - Rayudu’s prayers that RCB shouldn’t win the IPL were answered. In the end, RCB won the IPL title surprising all their haters and putting off all the naysayers.

7. Sanjeev Goenka’s huge expectations from Pant

In the IPL auction, Lucknow Super Giants bought Rishabh Pant for a massive Rs 27 crore bid, taking him away from DC and Pant became the most expensive player of the IPL, followed by Shreyas Iyer (26 cr) and Venkatesh Iyer (23.75 cr).  After the IPL auction, LSG owner Sanjeev Goenka and Rishabh Pant gave several interviews explaining his decision to get Pant for the team as a young long term player who could lead LSG. In one of the interviews, RPSG Chairman said after Dhoni and Rohit Sharma Rishabh Pant will be the most successful captain of the IPL and he is hopeful that he would win 5-6 titles in the next 15-16 years playing for LSG.

Verdict - LSG owner Sanjeev Goenka’s statement sort of jinxed Rishabh Pant for the majority of the league matches. Pant couldn’t replicate the magic expected out of him as the captain, ending at #7 on the points table winning 6/14 matches and except for the last match where he scored a century, 118 against RCB his performance for forgettable compared to Marsh, Markram & Pooran, scoring a total of 269 in the 14 matches.

Silver Lining - Rishabh though couldn’t take LSG to the playoffs, was able to regain his form in the last two matches and was also selected as team India’s Vice-captain for England Test series.

6. Axar Patel’s Over confidence after the first win against LSG

After winning their inaugural match of the season for DC, it registered victory against the Lucknow Super Giants. Delhi Capitals captain Axar Patel in the post match presentation boldly said “Ab aadat daal lo” (Now get used to it). Axar said every match will be like this under my captaincy.

Verdict - The Delhi Capitals 2025 IPL Campaign started well winning four out of six matches but lost the momentum in the later stage of the tournament. At the end of the season, Axar couldn’t even captain the Delhi franchise for all the fourteen matches due to finger injury. Faf Du Plessis led the side in the remaining two matches which resulted in 1 win against PBKS while losing the match against MI, leading to their elimination in the league.

Silver Lining - Delhi Capitals is relatively a young team which shows a promising future ahead. They have players like Abhishek Porel, Asutosh Sharma and Sameer Rizvi who are talented players and can form a strong batting order in the coming years. Axar Patel has a bright future with his dynamic all-round abilities, ensuring the future of DC is in good hands.

5. Shasank Singh’s Bold Prediction about Points Table

In an interview with Shubankar Mishra’s Youtube Channel, Shashank predicted the top two finishes of Punjab in this season, confidently suggesting PBKS might finish on the top or at max #2 on the points table, requesting Mishra to play the video again after PBKS plays its 14th match of the season.

Verdict - After the Punjab Kings finished in the top two of the IPL 2025 points table, a two month old video of PBKS middle order batter Shashank Singh went viral on social media.

Only Shashank Singh has made the right prediction at the end, Punjab not only finished in top 2 but also played the IPL final.

Silver Lining - Punjab under the new set up of Shreyas Iyer and coach Ricky Ponting started extremely well. Despite not winning the finals, Shreyas Iyer’s captaincy is the biggest positive for the franchise. With the mixture of youth and experience, Punjab Kings will be the team to beat in the upcoming years of the IPL. Shashank Singh also played a remarkable innings in IPL Final missing the Trophy only by 6 runs, scoring 61*(30).

4. Sanju Samson regret, “took some tough decisions ahead of the mega auction…

The decision of Rajasthan Royals to let go Jos Buttler ahead of the IPL auction has baffled everyone. In an interview with the Jio Hotstar, RR captain Sanju Samson has said letting go Jos Buttler from the Rajasthan team was one of the most challenging decisions he’s made in the IPL, stating IPL allows you to lead a team and play at the highest level, but it also allows you to build close friendships.

Jos Buttler is one of my closest friends. Samson described releasing Buttler as amongst his most difficult decisions for him and if he could change one thing in IPL, he would change the rule of releasing players every three years.

Verdict -  At the end of the IPL 2025, it was evident that Rajasthan Royals surely missed Buttler the batsman as they lacked stability and performed poorly with the bat ending up #9 on the points table, whereas Jos Butler went on to become the backbone of Gujarat Titans top order scoring 538 runs in the 14 matches played.

Silver Lining - Old players lost, new players found, it was a bag of mixed emotions for RR while they couldn't retain Jos Butler, the mentor factory discovered young talent Vaibhav Suryavanshi as the new opener and Shubham Dube as the finisher for them.

3. Venky Mysore on not retaining Shreyas Iyer

After the retention list was out, everyone was surprised to see the IPL winning captain Shreyas Iyer was not retained by KKR. To which the KKR CEO Venky Mysore said the auction retention process always needed mutual agreement and that could not happen with Shreyas Iyer. "What is fundamental to a retention is that it's a matter of mutually agreeing”, He added.

Verdict - Last year's IPL winners finished at #8 in 2025, far away from their glorious past even with major retained players like Varun Chakravarthy, Rinku Singh, Andre Russell and Sunil Narine. KKR also made a big blunder with scoring Venkatesh Iyer in the IPL Mega Auctions at 23.75 Cr, who even though stated that once the IPL starts, the price doesn't matter but ended up with a poor season like Rishabh Pant, scoring only 142 runs in 11 matches, whereas captaincy going to veteran Ajinkya Rahane.

2. Shane Watson’s IPL Final Prediction

Verdict - Now after the IPL final, we can surely say Watson has predicted one thing right about RCB winning the IPL final but Virat didn’t become the man of the match,it was the Clutch Krunal Pandya.

1.David Warner’s IPL winning team prediction is spot on

In the X, a user asked former SRH captain David Warner about the winner of the IPL 2025. In the reply Warner said RCB will win the IPL and he added Josh Hazlewood will be the man of the match.

Verdict - Warner’s man of the match prediction went wrong and in fact Hazlewood went for runs in the IPL final.

Conclusion of the Bold Statements Post IPL Final

These players, coaches and commentators have told these bold statements some in the heat of the moment while some may be in over confidence or excitement. But at the end of the day most of these statements were not backed by the actions. Cricket is not a game of bold statements, here stars are made and dropped within matches and the winners are the ones who have patience, just like RCB, which lifted their maiden Cup in 2025 after 18years of wait.
