17-year-old Ayush Mhatre started his cricketing journey as a First-Class cricketer for Mumbai against the Rest of India in the Irani Cup, October 2024. Mhatre is right-handed batter and often plays the role of right-arm offspinner. His domestic cricket record includes two centuries and a 150 score in both First-Class and 50-over format. By doing so, he became the youngest man to register a 150-plus score in a List A game, breaking the previous record set by Yashasvi Jaiswal. Despite his impressive records, the Under-19 Mumbai Cricket team’s captain, Ayush Mhatre, went unsold in the IPL Mega Auction 2025. However, after Ruturaj Gaikwad, who ruled out of the IPL 2025 season due to injury, Mhatre was selected as the substitute in the trial for the remaining tournament. The touted teenager is expected to play his debut IPL match against the Mumbai Indians on 20 April at Wankhede Stadium.
