Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Suspends Haider Ali

After the arrest, the PCB reacted quickly. They placed Haider Ali under provisional suspension. This means he cannot play or take part in any cricket activities until the legal case is resolved. In a statement, the PCB said, “We are aware of the investigation being carried out by the Greater Manchester Police. The incident reportedly took place during the Pakistan Shaheens’ tour of England. We have provided Haider Ali with legal help to ensure his rights are protected.”

The PCB added that it respects the UK’s legal system. It said that it would wait for the outcome of the investigation before taking any final decision. But for now, Haider Ali will remain suspended.

The Incident Took Place During Pakistan Shaheens’ Tour

Haider Ali was in England with the Pakistan Shaheens, which is the A-team of Pakistan cricket. The team was on a 15-day tour that started on July 22, 2025. They were playing matches against local English teams to give young players international exposure. The incident is said to have happened just one day after the tour began. Despite that, Haider continued to play matches until his arrest. The PCB is now reviewing all aspects of the tour. It is likely that the board will take stronger steps to monitor player behaviour during overseas tours.

Notably, Haider Ali has been released on bail. That means he is not in police custody now but must cooperate with investigators. The conditions of his bail have not been made public. He could be called back by the police at any time. If charges are formally filed against him, he may have to appear in court. For now, he has not been officially charged. The investigation is still ongoing.

Who Is Haider Ali?

Haider Ali is a 24-year-old cricketer from Attock, Punjab, Pakistan. He bats right-handed and is known for his aggressive and stylish play.

Ali debuted in the shortest format for Pakistan in September 2020 against England. He scored 54 runs in his first match, becoming the first Pakistani to hit a fifty on T20I debut.

Haider has played 35 T20I matches and 2 ODI matches for Pakistan. Many fans and experts have compared his batting style to Rohit Sharma, and Haider himself says Rohit is his role model.

He has also been a part of the Pakistan U-19 team and the Pakistan Shaheens. He has had ups and downs in his career, including a bio-bubble breach in 2021 during the Pakistan Super League. Despite being talented, Haider has struggled to secure a regular spot in the senior national team. This latest incident is now likely to affect his career even more.
