Ashish Nehra who was new to the role of Head Coach has been brilliant with the Gujarat Titans. His planning and strategies against every opponent have proved to be a game changer for Gujarat Titans. Nehra was equally complimented by former skipper Hardik Pandya. Under the leadership of these two the Gujarat Titans achieved a lot of success. Players like Shubman Gill, Rashid Khan and Rahul Tewatia have grown as a player with this franchise.

2022 - In the very first year of their participation the Gujarat Titans went on to become the champion in 2022 . Hardik Pandya who was new to the role of captaincy was absolutely spot on he was equally supported by core players Shubman Gill and Rashid Khan. Shubman Gill who was very young at that time produced a breakthrough season and came into the spotlight which also earned him a place in India's T20 squad . Titans defeated the Rajasthan Royals in the final at Narendra Modi Stadium Ahmedabad to win their first and only IPL title.

2023 - After lifting the title Gujarat Titans entered this season as the defending champions and they played like champions as well . Titans bulldozed almost every team throughout league stages and it looked like they will lift their 2nd title and defend their first title. But in the finals they faced CSK and kudos to Sai Sudharsan's crucial knock the Titans setup a dependable score in the finals . This final lasted for 2 days due to rain and it all came down to the last ball where CSK needed 4 runs and unfortunately for the Titans Jadeja hit the winning runs and Titans couldn't defend their title.

Gujarat Titans haven't been a part of the IPL from the beginning but they have still managed to be a successful team since their inclusion. Gujarat Titans Head Coach Ashish Nehra focuses a lot on the team culture and building a positive team environment which indeed has helped them to bring the best out of their players . Hardik Pandya who led this team for two years also focussed a lot on a positive team environment and mentioned it in lot of interviews as well .

Hardik Pandya led this team from the front while batting at number 3 position which is unlikely for a player like him he managed to be among the top scorers for the Gujarat Titans alongside Shubman Gill. Gujarat Titans have always been a team which remains calm and doesn't panic under pressure which is reflected by their coaching staff . They try to keep things simple and focus more on the process rather than results which indeed have given them so much success in quick time.

After the departure of Hardik Pandya to Mumbai Indians. The Gujarat Titans management invested and backed a new generation player Shubman Gill to lead the side and take the franchise forward. Shubman in his first year as a skipper didn't perform as per the standards but the Titans management have backed him as a captain again. It will be interesting to see how Gill goes about his business this season.

Gujarat Titans heavily missed the services of Hardik Pandya and M Shami and there was no fire in their bowling lineup as well . Rashid Khan had a decent season with the ball and captain Shubman Gill was the lone warrior in their batting order . All these flaws effected Titans and they didn't qualify for the first time.

1.Gujarat Titans vs Mumbai Indians 

Mumbai Indians, the five time champion team, have a poor record against the Gujarat Titans. Both these teams have given so many thriller matches. Nobody can forget the moment when Hardik Pandya entered the Narendra Modi Stadium as the captain of Mumbai Indians. He was booed by the whole crowd and that match was a thriller too which Gujarat Titans won in the last over. The transfer of Hardik Pandya to Mumbai Indians have given a new looked rivalry between these two teams.

2.Gujarat Titans vs Chennai Super Kings 

There very few teams who has had success against the five time champion Chennai Super Kings and GT has managed to give a tough fight to the super kings. Titans have a win Percentage over 50 against CSK . These two teams met in the final of 2023 and this final is considered as one of the greatest IPL final ,lasted for 2 days due to rain and last ball finish from CSK all rounder Ravindra Jadeja sealed the title victory for the super kings but throughout the course of the game Gujarat Titans looked in complete control but eventually faltered in the last over.

Gujarat Titans is a new IPL franchise which is mainly owned by the Ahmedabad- based Torrent Group and it holds 67% of the stake of the franchise. Torrent Group is an Ahmedabad-based conglomerate with interests in pharmaceuticals, power and gas. In February 2025, the group acquired the 67% stake and by doing so the Torrent Group has made its entry into the sports sector. The remaining 33 % is with the CVC Capital Partners, a global private equity firm which purchased the franchise for Rs 5,625 crore in the year 2021. According to the Sovrenn Discovery the net worth of Gujarat Titans is approximately Rs 7,500 crore.

Gujarat Titans is one of the franchises which got established in the IPL in the year 2022. In the IPL 2022 mega auctions, GT had drafted three players. They drafted Hardik Pandya for Rs 15 crore, Rashid Khan for Rs 15 crore and Shubman Gill for Rs 8 crore.  After these players, GT had bought the likes of Lockie Ferguson for Rs 10 crore, Rahul Tewatia for Rs 9 crore, Mohammed Shami for Rs 6.25 crore and also the South African explosive hitter David Miller for Rs 3 crore. The head coach of Gujarat Titans from the 2022 season is former India fast bowler, Ashish Nehra. Coming into the 2022 season, GT had a dream IPL debut. 

With a new franchise and a new set up, the GT team under the captaincy of Hardik Pandya performed beyond the expectations of everyone with consistent performance. In the league stage of the tournament in 2022, GT finished first with 10 wins out of 14 matches. With the likes of Shubman Gill, David Miller and Rahul Tewatia performing consistently, Hardik Pandya the skipper led from the front both with the bat and ball as Gujarat Titans won its first IPL trophy in its debut season.

 Coming into the 2024 season, Gujarat Titans had a shocking loss. Hardik Pandya was drafted to Mumbai Indians for a good amount. He was traded to MI for an exact amount of Rs 15 crore. After the loss of Hardik Pandya GT has appointed Shubman Gill as the captain of their franchise. In the 2024 IPL season, Gujarat Titans had a below average season as they finished 8th in the points table. Out of 14 matches, GT had won 5 matches and lost 7 matches. Coming into the 2025 IPL auction, GT had bought some terrific players like Jos Buttler, Kagiso Rabada. Sai Sudharsan is one batsman who is a consistent performer for GT for the last three years. In this season so far, Sudharsan has scored 617 runs and is the highest run scorer so far.

Hardik Pandya

 Hardik Pandya was the face of Gujarat Titans in the year 2022. He was drafted for Rs 15 crore and from the starting point he justified his price tag. After taking Hardik, the Gujarat Titans franchise gave the captaincy role to him. And Hardik didn’t disappoint one and all. In the very first season Gujarat Titans won the IPL in 2022 under the leadership of Hardik Pandya. 

Shubman Gill

 Shubman Gill is known to be the next star of Indian Cricket. He is a stylish opener and very quickly he became one of the most consistent run scorers in the IPL. After Hardik Pandya’s trade to Mumbai Indians, Shubman Gill is the current captain of the GT franchise. Gill also has the ability to build innings and provide solid starts which can lay the foundation for GT’s middle order. 

Rashid Khan

Rashid Khan is a world known Afghan leg-spinner and is a key member in the Gujarat Titans line up. Rashid is known for his economical bowling and he has great wicket taking ability especially in the middle overs. He has a great experience in T20 cricket and he has taken 56 wickets in 45 matches for GT.

Jos Buttler

Gujarat Titans have bought the explosive English opener Jos Buttler for a whopping Rs 15.75 crore in the IPL mega auction 2025. After relieving the England captaincy, Jos Buttler has found a new home in Gujarat Titans. And in this new franchise, Buttler is in the form of his life. So far in 12 matches, Buttler has scored 500 runs with an astonishing average of 71. 43.
