From all the way of South Africa to the IPL, Anrich Nortje has had an impressive journey. 32-year-old Anrich Nortje is a right-armed pacer and occasionally a right-handed batsman. IPL 2025 will be his 6th edition of the Indian Premier League tournament. For this season, KKR picked Nortje after DC released him in the IPL 225 Auction.

Anrich Nortje entered the IPL tournament in 2020 as a replacement for Chris Woakes, who was ruled out of the IPL due to an injury. Anrich played his debut season with the Delhi Capitals, scalping 22 wickets in his first season. His debut match was between the Delhi Capitals and the Punjab Kings at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai. In which Nortje gave away 33 runs but no wickets in 4 overs.

In his 6th edition of the IPL 2025 tournament, Anrich Nortje will play for the Kolkata Knight Riders. Since his debut, he has played for the two IPL teams - KKR and DC. Known for his pace, line, and length, Nortje has also set a record for the fastest delivery, when he bowled at the speed of 156.22 km/h or 97 mph to Rajasthan Royals' Jos Buttler in 2020. He is one of the few bowlers who set a milestone in their very first season of IPL.

After playing for five seasons for the Delhi Capitals, Anrich Nortje was released by the franchise in the IPL 2025 auction. Nortje was picked up by the Kolkata franchise without wasting time for his IPL salary of INR 6.50 crore, matching his previous one.

Since his debut, Anrich Nortje has only played for the Delhi Capitals from 2020 to 2024. Before Delhi, Anrich was signed by the Kolkata franchise in 2019 but hasn’t played a single game and was released for the next IPL season in 2020. Once again, Kolkata has shown an interest in Anrich Nortje and bought him in the Mega Auction of IPL 2025.

Anriche was first signed for the TATA IPL in 2019, and the Kolkata franchise bought him for his base salary of INR 2019. However, they didn’t use the Proteas talent and released him in 2020. It was the time when Delhi Capitals acquired Anrich Nortje for the price of INR 89.82 lac as a replacement for Chris Woakes. Soon, Anrich became an integral part of the DC squad and the franchise retained him until 2024 for the price of 6.50 crore. Ahead of the 2025 season, Nortje plays for the  KKR, who welcomed him onboard for the INR 6.50 crore same as his previous IPL salary

Throughout his IPL career, Anrich Nortje has shown his supremacy with his pace and aggressive bowling style, helping him overpower the batters from the very start. Nortje is one of the few bowlers who deliver the ball at a speed of 150+ km/h in the IPL. He has been a key player in the IPL with consistently giving good performances season by season.
