Bangladesh cricket team is currently touring Sri Lanka for a multi-format series. The Test series was wrapped-up on 29 June with Sri Lanka winning the series with a 1-0 scoreline.
The first of the two Test matches was played starting from 17 June. It eventually ended in a draw. Najmul Hossain Shanto and Mushfiqur Rahim scored big centuries while Litton Das missed on the ton by 10 runs.

The ODI series now begins from July 2 with the first ODI match to be played at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.
Sri Lanka has had a good recent form in the ODI format recently. In the series vs New Zealand, Sri Lanka lost the first 2 games but won the third match. They followed that with back-to-back wins in the two match series vs Australia.
Bangladesh on the other hand has been struggling a lot. The Bangla Tigers lost the 3 match ODI series vs West Indies. That was followed by back-to-back defeats in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 Group Stage against India and New Zealand.
The Sri Lankan ODI setup will be led by Charith Asalanka. Pathum Nissanka, Avishkar Fernando, Kusal Mendis are key batters in the line-up. The line-up boasts of several all-rounders in the team. Kamindu Mendis, Dunith Wellalage, Wanindu Hasaranga are some of the key all-rounders in the set-up.
The bowling department includes the likes of Eshan Malinga, Asitha Fernando and Dilshan Madushanka. Maheesh Theekshana is the spin bowling option available.
The visitors Bangladesh cricket team will be led by their captain Mehidy Hasan Miraz. Tanzid Hasan, Mohammad Naim, Towhid Hridoy, Litton Das and Jaker Ali are key batters in the line-up.

R. Premadasa Stadium is one of the most historic stadiums in Sri Lanka. It has been operational since 1986 and has hosted some of the biggest games in this sport. This venue offers a great deal of assistance for bowlers. Spinners will turn and bounce with older balls. The pacers will get the initial movement. The batting in the second innings becomes difficult here because of the slowness of the pitch, which makes it a good venue to defend a total in ODIs.

It will be the opening match of the 3 match ODI series between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. Both the teams haven't been the same that side they once were in the glorious history.
Sri Lanka is currently the favourite team to win this match. The Lankan side has been in great form, also beating Australia recently. As for Bangladesh, the side has failed to complete their transition. The side has been struggling ever since the big guns retired for the Bangla Tigers. At home, the Sri Lanka cricket team is certainly the favourite to start the series with a win here.
