The second T20I between West Indies and Pakistan at the Central Broward Regional Park in Florida is set to be pretty exciting. Pakistan currently leads the series after winning the opening game by 14 runs, so this match could be the series decider. They just need to win the second T20I to secure an unbeatable 2-0 lead in the three-match series.
In the 1st T20I, West Indies captain Shai Hope won the toss and opted to bowl first. The visitors lost the wicket of Sahibzada Farhan early on. After that, Saim Ayub and Fakhar Zaman teamed up to put together 81 runs for the second wicket. Ayub was the top scorer with 57 runs while Fakhar scored 28 runs. Hasan Nawaz also played a cameo of 24 runs. But with lack of contribution from the lower-order batters, Pakistan scored 178 runs.
While chasing the target, West Indies got off to a good start as the opening duo of Johnson Charles and Jewel Andrews added 72 runs. The veteran batter scored 35 runs off 36 balls while the youngster Andrews also scored 35 runs off 33 balls.
But after that, the West Indies suffered a massive collapse. They were soon 4 wickets down for 77 runs. Things never really got back on track for them following that. Veteran all-rounder Jason Holder gave a last ditch effort to save the match with 30 runs off 12 balls. In the end, the West Indies couldn't quite get there and fell short by 14 runs.
The Pakistan cricket team is trying to get back on track in terms of their form after their series defeat vs Bangladesh. Meanwhile West Indies have still not found a way out from their tragic series defeat. While Pakistan have won 3 matches in their last 5 games and lost 2, West Indies has not won any of their last 5 matches, in-fact they have not won a single of their last 6 matches.
The Pakistan cricket team has further strengthened their performance in the head-to-head rivalry against the West Indies after their win in the previous match. These two teams have played a total of 22 matches against each other and the ‘Men in Green' Pakistan have won 16 matches while West Indies have won only 3 matches.
At the Central Broward Regional Park Stadium in Lauderhill, Florida, the pitch tends to favor the batsmen with nice pace and bounce. First-innings scores in T20Is there typically hover between 166 and 175, making it a pretty exciting ground for batting. Over time, the pitch generally slows, helping spinners and making it harder for batsmen to get their timing right. If the bounce remains reliable, fast bowlers have an edge, but when the pitch is grassy, the slower bowlers tend to dominate the scene. In the past, teams that batted first tend to win most of the games played at this venue as was the case in the first T20I match earlier.
West Indies: Johnson Charles, Shai Hope (C, WK), Keacy Carty, Jewel Andrews, Sherfane Rutherford, Roston Chase, Matthew Forde, Jason Holder, Akeal Hosein, Gudakesh Motie, Shamar Joseph.
Pakistan: Sahibzada Farhan, Saim Ayub, Mohammad Haris (WK), Fakhar Zaman, Salman Agha (C), Hasan Nawaz, Mohammad Nawaz, Fahim Ashraf, Shaheen Afridi, Haris Rauf, Abrar Ahmed.
The veteran West Indies cricket team opening batter Johnson Charles is currently one of the most experienced batters in the team. He had a brilliant outing in the previous match as he scored 35 runs. But he would want to improve his strike rate. Charles has done well whenever he has played at the venue, so he could be a player to watch out for.
West Indies’ right-arm pacer Shamar Joseph has been in tremendous form. He took 22 wickets in 6 innings during the Test series vs Australia. He was rested for the T20Is though. But he delivered a stunning performance as he took 3 wickets for 30 runs in the first T20I vs Pakistan.
The Pakistan cricket team’s left-hand middle-order batter Fakhar Zaman is going to play a crucial role for the side just like in the previous match. With a solid 28 off 24 balls, Zaman kept Pakistan steady and prevented them from a collapse. He is also capable of accelerating the inning when necessary, making him a great batter in the middle.
Shaheen Afridi made his first appearance for the Pakistan cricket team after the Pakistan Super League 2025. He didn't have a great game though. He took 1 wicket for 27 runs in his 4 overs bowled in the first T20I. He will be hoping to improve on that performance.
The second T20I between West Indies and Pakistan is shaping up to be a really important game for both sides. Pakistan need a win to seal the series victory while West Indies desperately need a win or a result that doesn't go Pakistan’s way to take the series decider to the final game of the series.
The West Indies cricket team is still morally destroyed after a horrific 5-0 series defeat vs Australia. Meanwhile, although Pakistan lost the T20I series vs Bangladesh 2-1, they still won one match and most importantly they have already won the first T20I in this series.
West Indies is playing this series with some of the big names like Shirmon Hetmyer, Rovman Powell not playing the series while Pakistan has quite a strong line-up. So definitely they start this match as the favourite to win this match. However, West Indies could still trouble visitors, once they get the Pakistan top-order out early, Pakistan will be on the backfoot. But West Indies also have to ensure their middle-order doesn't collapse like in the previous match.
