Good news for Pakistani athletics: Arshad Nadeem's coach, Salman Butt, is now free to train him again. Senator Pervez Rashid of the Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) has canceled Butt's ban, calling it unconstitutional. This means Butt can coach Nadeem and represent Pakistan worldwide without problems.
Nadeem got a ban in October after finishing 10th at the World Athletics Championships. After that, the PAAF told Butt to explain Nadeem’s performance. Butt said that Nadeem’s calf surgery in July hurt his performance and that the federation hadn't been involved in his career for a year. The PAAF didn't like this, so they accused Butt of breaking the federation’s rules as president of the Punjab Athletics body, which led to the ban.
As the adjudicator in the case, Senator Pervez Rashid found several procedural mistakes made by the PAAF. He pointed out that Butt never got an official charge sheet, didn't have a real hearing, and that the federation didn't follow the rules. Because of this, he told the PAAF to take back all the bad reports they sent to international groups about Butt. This puts Butt back in his job as a coach.
Arshad Nadeem and Pakistani athletics fans can breathe a sigh of relief as Salman Butt, who has greatly helped shape Nadeem’s career, will be allowed to continue coaching. Their work together has been key to Nadeem's achievements, like his Olympic performance and recent gold at the Islamic Solidarity Games in Riyadh. With the ban lifted, Butt can keep guiding Nadeem in global competitions, helping Pakistan stay competitive in javelin and athletics internationally.
