Champions Trophy Scheduling Issues

The unusual scheduling of the Champions Trophy required South Africa and Australia to relocate from Pakistan to Dubai after finishing their group matches. This was happened to prepare for a possible semifinal against India. However, after India defeated New Zealand in their final Group A match, they secured a position in the semifinal against Australia.

Consequently, the South African team had to come back to Pakistan for the second semifinal.

This situation occurred because India denied to travel to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy due to political and safety reasons. As a result, the ICC arranged for all of India’s matches to be held in Dubai.

Miller said that even though the flight was only an hour and 40 minutes long, being required to travel was not ideal. His confirmation was made after South Africa lost to New Zealand by 50 runs on Wednesday. He stated that the team was required to travel early in the morning, immediately after a match. Their arrival in Dubai was at 4:00 pm, and they had to come back at 7:30 am. Although the flight was short, enough time for proper rest and recovery was not available, making it a challenging experience.
