The 'Fab Four' were seen ruling cricket in all formats for many years, but now the focus has shifted to choosing the next group of Fab Four from today’s cricketers. At the same time, the former New Zealand captain also joined the conversation and shared his choices for the new Fab Four. It was said by Kane that Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill, Rachin Ravindra, and Harry Brook could be seen as the next Fab Four.
While Gill, Ravindra, Brook, and Jaiswal were being praised, the value of Test cricket was also pointed out by Kane Williamson. He said, “I feel personally grateful that I was brought up in that red-ball era. It’s still there, but the T20 format is so popular now, and so many matches are played. So, the chance to bat for a long time and to face different challenges in the game is becoming less common.
The New Zealand legend also spoke about the difficulties faced by today’s players. It was pointed out by him that, in the past, cricketers were given more chances to play red-ball cricket, but now the T20 format has become more common. He also shared that a player’s game can be improved by playing red-ball cricket.
Speaking about the four players mentioned by Williamson, Jaiswal is being seen performing well for India in all three formats and is being included regularly in the team. Shubman Gill has been made the new Test captain of India. Leadership has also been given to Harry Brook, who now leads England in white-ball formats. Meanwhile, Rachin Ravindra is being noticed for his strong performances in both Test matches and ODIs
Hussain and Michael are Also Named Future Fab Four
Williamson is not the first to name the possible future Fab Four. Earlier this year, in January, former England captains Nasser Hussain and Michael Atherton had discussed the same topic with each other. Interestingly, Jaiswal, Brook, and Rachin were also included in their lists.
Hussain's choices were Jaiswal, Brook, Australia’s Travis Head, and Saim Ayub from Pakistan. On the other hand, Atherton selected Sri Lanka’s Kamindu Mendis and Rachin Ravindra instead of Head and Ayub.
