Given the sensitivity of the situation, it remains unclear whether Gambhir will manage TO arrive in the UK before the first test. While the condition of his mother is still not known completely, sources that are privy to Gambhir say that the doctors are hopeful of a speedy recovery. If these sources are to be believed, then the Indian head coach could join the rest of the team early next week. He left England before the intra-squad match that is being played currently between India A and India at Beckenham.
With Gambhir back at home, there is still a decision to be made as to who will head the team in his absence. Morne Morkel, the bowling coach, is one of the most experienced among the coaching staff. The former South African pacer certainly has a lot of experience playing in England and can provide valuable tips to the young squad.
Apart from Morkel, T Dillip, the fielding coach for the Indian team, has been with the Indian team for a long time. He knows most of the players and must have a great rapport with them to provide the necessary help required.
The rest of the coaching staff includes Sitanshu Kotak, the batting coach and Ryan ten Doeschate, the fielding coach.
