Five Indian cities have been selected to host the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025. The stage is set! As per a report by Sports Tak, the BCCI has locked in Vizag, Mullanpur (Punjab), Indore, Trivandrum, and Guwahati as venues for the much-anticipated tournament this September.
Venue selection was reportedly guided by the BCCI’s apex council meeting in Kolkata on Saturday, where key discussions were held to establish the preliminary blueprint for the 13th audition of the Women’s 50-over World Cup.
A hybrid model has been confirmed, with Pakistan matches set to be held in Sri Lanka if they qualify for the ICC event. Following the established pattern of the Champions Trophy 2025, which saw Pakistan as the host while India’s games were moved to Dubai over diplomatic considerations, this decision ensures tournament stability.
Furthermore, a mutual understanding has been established, guaranteeing that Pakistan’s fixtures in future ICC events hosted by India will be played at neutral venues to maintain tournament integrity while avoiding political roadblocks.
Following the latest conclusion of the Women’s Premier League in Mumbai and Vadodara, deliberations took place regarding their potential selection as venues. However, sources advised that persistent rainfall in these areas until early October led to their exclusion from the schedule.
During the council meeting of BCCI held in Kolkata on Saturday, it was deliberated that the tournament, spanning over nearly three weeks, will be played across five venues, keeping the weather conditions and logistics in mind.
The opening ceremony for Women’s World Cup 2025 has been assigned to Vishakhapatnam, a recognized Test venue and frequent IPL host, while Indore or Guwahati may host the final.
With the approval from the international authorities, all venues will undergo a rigorous examination before the tournament proceeds.
