The BCCI’s Women’s Selection Committee unveiled the India A women’s squad on July 10, 2025, for the multi-format tour, a great initiative to prepare emerging talents for the senior team. The BCCI announced the official squad of India A Women for the Australia Tour on its official website and shared it via social media accounts.
The tour aligns with India’s broader strategy to build a strong bench for the senior women’s team, especially ahead of major events like the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup later in 2025. According to the BCCI, the series will test the players’ adaptability across formats and provide exposure to high-quality facilities and competitive cricket, crucial for their growth.
The India A women’s squad is a mix of promising youngsters and players with senior team experience, ensuring a balance of potential and stability.
Here are the two squads for the India A team for the Australia tour - one for the T20 matches and another for the 50-over and multi-day formats, with slight variations to suit the demands of each format.
Radha Yadav, a seasoned left-arm spinner with extensive international experience, has been entrusted with the captaincy across all formats. Radha’s ability to remain calm under pressure and her recent domestic and WPL experience make her a trustworthy skipper to lead such a young team across the borders. Minnu Mani is an all-rounder known for her off-spin and handy lower-order batting, has been assigned the duty as the vice-captain.
Speaking of other key players of the squad are Shafali Verma, a dynamic batter with significant senior team experience, whose explosive batting style will strengthen the top order. Titas Sadhu, a promising pace bowler, and Shreyanka Patil, an all-rounder known for her performances in domestic cricket and the Women’s Premier League (WPL), are players to watch, provided they receive fitness clearance.
Emerging talents like Uma Chetry, Nandini Kashyap (both wicketkeepers), and Raghvi Bist add depth, while spinners like Radha Yadav, Minnu Mani, and Tanuja Kanwer bring variety to the bowling attack. The squad’s composition reflects a strategic blend of aggressive batting, versatile all-rounders, and a mix of pace and spin bowling, tailored to handle Australia’s bouncy pitches and competitive environment.
The tour is structured to provide a comprehensive test across formats, with matches spread across three venues in Queensland- Mackay, Norths, and Brisbane :
T20 Series (August 7–11, 2025): Three T20 matches will be played at Mackay, a venue known for its modern facilities at the Great Barrier Reef Arena.
50-Over Series (August 14–18, 2025): Three one-day matches will take place in Norths, Brisbane, offering a chance to test endurance and strategy in the 50-over format, a key component of the ICC Women’s Championship.
Four-Day Match (August 21–24, 2025): The tour concludes with a red-ball game at the iconic Allan Border Field in Brisbane, a rare opportunity for India A women to compete in a multi-day format, which could pave the way for more women’s Test cricket in the future.
As India A prepares to take on Australia A in Mackay and Brisbane, all eyes will be on how these players handle the pressure and seize the opportunity to shape the future of Indian women’s cricket.
