After winning the toss, Nat Sciver-Brunt, the captain of the England Women's team, decided to bat first. However, the openers were disappointing for the England team as Amy Jones and Tammy Beaumont departed early, leaving England 2 down for 20 runs.
Emma Lamba and Sciver-Brunt added 71 runs for the 3rd wicket before both batters departed within 6 runs as England found themselves 4 wickets down for 97 runs. From there, Sophia Dunkley and Alice Richards scored 106 runs in partnership.

Chasing 259 runs, India got off to a good start as Smriti Mandhana and Pratika Rawal added 48 runs for the 1st wicket before Mandhana was dismissed for 28 runs.
Rawal and Harleen Deol at number three added 46 runs for the 2nd wicket before both batters lost their wickets in quick succession, reducing Team India to 3 wickets for 102 runs. Captain Harmanpreet Kaur also didn't play well as she departed after scoring just 17 runs as India found themselves 4 down for 124 runs.
However, Jemimah Rodrigues and Deepti Sharma went on to add a partnership of 90 runs for the fifth wicket. Rodrigues departed after scoring 48 runs, but Deepti carried on with her brilliant batting display. She scored 62 runs not out off 64 balls. Amanjot Kaur remained not out for 20 runs after Richa Ghosh failed to play a big inning.
Team India won the match by 4 wickets to pick up a much-needed confidence booster before the next two matches to be played on 19 and 22 July in London and Chester-le-Street.
