As per a report, Salt missed RCB’s final training session before the match, a strong indication that he might not be in Ahmedabad. While RCB head coach Andy Flower and captain Rajat Patidar have kept quiet about his status, sources suggest Salt could have already flown home.
Salt has been a cornerstone of RCB’s campaign, scoring 387 runs in 12 matches at a strike rate of 175.90 and an average of 35.18. His aggressive start with Virat Kohli helped RCB dominate powerplays throughout the season.
With Jacob Bethell also unavailable due to international duties, RCB’s opening combination could see a shake-up. If Salt is confirmed, two names have emerged as possible partners for Kohli: Tim Seifert, signed earlier as a backup wicket-keeper, and Mayank Agarwal, experienced and capable of anchoring innings
RCB is known for keeping the opposition guessing. Coach Andy Flower often employs psychological tactics, such as involving even injured players in practice drills, to create confusion. However, Salt’s no-show at training, combined with reports of his situation, suggests this is more than a bluff.
Phil Salt’s explosive starts have allowed RCB’s middle-order to flourish. Without him, the team may have to rethink its entire approach to the powerplay and batting depth. RCB will likely wait until toss time to reveal their playing XI, keeping fans and opponents in suspense.
RCB is currently facing uncertainty around Tim David’s fitness, as he has missed the last two matches due to a hamstring injury. His availability for the upcoming game is still unclear. David plays an important role for the team, especially in the final overs with Romario Shepherd, where their big-hitting can make a major difference.
“Till now, I have no idea about Tim David. Doctors are there and we will get to know this evening," RCB skipper Rajat Patidar said in the pre-match press conference.
