IPL Chairman Arun Dhamal reacted strongly to the tragic stampede that occurred outside M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru during RCB’s IPL 2025 victory celebrations. The incident resulted in at least 11 deaths and left nearly 50 others injured. Authorities say nearly 2 to 3 lakh fans gathered at the venue, far more than expected. Prime Minister Narendra Modi called the incident “tragic” and expressed his condolences.
The BCCI clarified that it had no role in organising the celebration event, which was handled locally. Dhumal said that while the loss of lives was hurting, the board cannot be held responsible for the mishap, as it had no control over the crowd or the planning of the gathering.
RCB’s historic IPL 2025 win, ending an 18-year wait, brought thousands of fans to the streets, especially outside the stadium. The crowd size quickly grew beyond control, leading to chaos and a deadly stampede. Visuals showed several shoes and personal items scattered outside the venue as emergency teams responded.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), the IPL 2025 champions, have announced a compensation of 10 Lakh INR each for the families of the 11 people who lost their lives in the tragic stampede during the team’s victory celebration. The franchise has also launched a relief fund named ‘RCB Cares’ to help support fans who were injured in the incident. Most injured have been discharged, with only a few still under treatment at Bengaluru’s Bowring and Lady Curzon Hospital, all in stable condition.
Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has announced a compensation of Rs 1 lakh for the families of the deceased. A massive crowd gathered to see Virat Kohli and the RCB team, causing chaos outside the stadium and resulting in the tragic death of 11 people on Wednesday.
Most of the people injured in the stampede outside Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru have been discharged, while a few are still receiving treatment but are now out of danger.

As excitement builds up for RCB’s Victory Parade, Bengaluru Police have issued a public advisory in both Kannada and English. People are being urged to avoid roads around Vidhana Soudha and Chinnaswamy Stadium between 3 PM and 8 PM today, as large crowds and traffic congestion are expected.
Officials also mentioned that limited parking in the Central Business District (CBD) was one of the main reasons why the city chose not to hold a larger parade in that area.
To manage the crowd and traffic smoothly, Bengaluru’s civic and traffic teams are working together. Commuters are strongly advised to use Metro trains and other public transport options to move around the city or to reach the event.
In a post on social media, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) confirmed that the Victory Parade will start at 5 PM IST. The parade will be followed by celebrations inside Chinnaswamy Stadium. RCB also urged to cooperate with the authorities and follow all safety guidelines to ensure a smooth and joyful celebration.
“We request all fans to follow guidelines set by police and other authorities, so that everyone can enjoy the roadshow peacefully,” the official statement from RCB read.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) fans were eagerly waiting to be a part of and enjoy their team’s victory parade after winning their maiden IPL title.
