TATA IPL 2026: Teams Have Been Banned From The Indian Premier League Earlier As Well -

In the history of the Indian Premier League, the teams have been banned from playing this cash rich league tournament earlier as well. So if RCB is banned then that will not be new for the fans of the IPL. In the season of the 2016 and 2017, the team first time champion, Rajasthan Royals and the team which holds five IPL trophies, Chennai Super Kings were handed a ban for two longs years.

Instead of RR and CSK, Gujarat Lions (GL) and Raising Pune Supergiants (RPS) played the 2016 and 2017 seasons. Raising Pune Supergiants also made it to the finals of 2017 season under the leadership of the Aussie great skipper and batter, Steven Smith.

RR and CSK were handed the bans for two IPL editions because the owners of the double R’s and the Yellow Army were involved in match fixing and betting scandals during the 2013 edition of the Indian Premier League. This ban was a decision taken by the Supreme Court of India and that’s why GL and RPS played the IPL editions of 2016 and 2017.

TATA IPL 2026: Will RCB Be The Third Team To Face A Ban In The History Of The Indian Premier League?

The team of the Royal Challengers Bengaluru carried out a victory parade after their maiden IPL win in the 18th edition of the Indian Premier League. But this victory march from the Bengaluru wasn’t like it was when India won their 2007 and 2024 T20 World Cup tournaments.

In this victory parade, there was a huge stampede, people were injured and many of the cricket fans also lost their lives. The Karnataka State Cricket Broad’s secretary and treasurer also resign from their jobs after this tragic incident. Now the speculations are that the RCB team might be banned from the Indian Premier League as well.

An FIR has also been filed against the team of Royal Challengers Bengaluru, KSCA and the event management company called DNA Entertainment. Apart from all this, the Bengaluru police also arrested Nikhil Sosale, the marketing head of the Royal Challengers Bengaluru.
