Noor Ahmad was named the player of the match for his incredible bowling performance in the first innings. The left-arm wrist spinner picked up four wickets and never let the Knight Riders settle in the first innings. He dismissed Sunil Narine and Angkrish Raghuvanshi in the first over. At crucial junctures, Noor not only picked up wickets but also dismissed some of the best batters. In his last two overs, the Afghan spinner got the better of Andre Russell and Rinku Singh, which probably allowed CSK to concede 20 runs fewer.
Noor Ahmad, after a few quiet games the last week or so, was the difference between a huge score and a chaseable target for the Chennai Super Kings. The left-arm wrist spinner picked up four wickets at crucial junctures of the clash. Coming into the attack to bowl his first over, Noor picked up a couple of wickets, dismissing Sunil Narine and Angkrish Raghuvanshi. He then dismissed Andre Russell, who was looking to take the game away from the visitors with his hard-hitting knock. His last wicket came off a pretty poor delivery, which Rinku Singh smashed straight to the fielder at deep backward square leg.
Dewald Brevis played a hard-hitting knock that sealed the win for the Chennai Super Kings. The South African batter, coming into the IPL 2025 as an injury replacement, has already played some impactful knocks. However, his performance tonight against the Knight Riders came in a winning cause. Scoring 52 runs in only 25 balls, Brevis hit four fours and fours sixes each. Meanwhile, his striking against Vaibhav Arora, which fetched 30 runs in the 11th over, turned the game on its head.
Shivam Dube, while he did not have a high strike rate like Brevis, played an almost equally knock. The left-handed batter stitched together an important 67-run partnership with Brevis. While he only contributed 14 runs in the stand, it was a crucial partnership in the context of the game. When Brevis was dismissed, the required run rate was pretty low, and it only needed a stabilising partnership to seal the game. Dube played an important role with Dhoni and took the pressure off his skipper. He struck a couple of fours and three sixes in the 40-ball knock.
Varun Chakravarthy was a lone warrior with the ball in hand for the Knight Riders. The mystery spinner started his spell with a four off the first ball. However, in the next 23 balls, every batter from the Super Kings faced difficulty facing him. He picked up a couple of wickets, dismissing Ravindra Jadeja and Dewald Brevis. He remained the most economical bowler of the night, giving away only 18 runs off his four overs.
It was a stop-and-start kind of innings from Kolkata Knight Riders. They were off to a flier in the power play in spite of losing Rahmanullah Gurbaz in the second over itself. Ajinkya Rahane and Sunil Narine stitched together a 54-run stand for the second wicket. However, the rate of scoring dipped drastically right after the power play.
The CSK spinners were right on the money with their accurate lines and lengths. Noor Ahmad led the charge for the visitors, picking up four wickets in his spell. The Afghan spinner challenged every batter who faced him. His wickets came at crucial moments, which allowed the Super Kings to restrict the hosts to a fairly chaseable score.
Amidst the falling wickets, Andre Russell once again carried on with his hard-hitting form from the previous match. The right-handed batter struggled to get going initially, once again against the spinners. However, as the pace bowlers returned to the attack, Russell found his touch once again. He scored 38 runs in 21 balls, hitting four fours and three sixes.
Apart from Noor, the CSK bowlers were pretty average and bowled on inconsistent lines and lengths. While the Ravichandran Ashwin bowled economically, he could not pick up a wicket.
The second innings started like an entire game of 20 overs was pushed into six overs. There were plenty of shots being hit by the Chennai batters. However, KKR too picked up five wickets in the power play. The mystery spin duo of Varun Chakravarthy and Sunil Narine were expected to have a major say in the game. Unfortunately for KKR, it seemed like only Chakravarthy showed up.
The Indian spinner was a lone warrior for the Knights, having picked up a couple of wickets while giving away only 18 runs. The bowlers from the opposite end could not contain the flow of runs, which meant that Chennai batters could see him out. Narine from the opposite end could not pick up a wicket, which would have possibly won the game for their side, but was economical.
Dewald Brevis was the match-winner with the bat in hand for the Super Kings. The South African batter struggled initially in his innings against spin bowlers. However, once he faced pacer Vaibhav Arora, the game turned on its head completely. He struck three sixes and three fours each in the over.
After yesterday’s thriller against CSK, KKR’s chances of a playoff qualification almost faded away. Eden Gardens witnessed a vintage Dhoni where he took the match deep and hit that crucial six in the last over to finish off in style. As far as KKR is concerned, they never got a strong momentum in the whole tournament. Venkatesh Iyer could n’t find form in the tournament and as a result he had to sit out in yesterday’s match. CSK has some positives for the next season as the youngsters like Ayush Mhatre and Urvil Patel are providing much needed impetus in the batting order. In every match of the IPL there are some awards given and there are key moments which change the complexation of the match. Below given are the awards and key moments of yesterday’s match between CSK and KKR.
Awards given in the match between CSK and KKR:
My 11 Circle Fantasy King of the match: Noor Ahmad from CSK got the award after a brilliant spell of bowling with figures of 4-0-31-4.
Curvv Super Striker of the match: Urvil Patel from CSK. The debutant took the KKR team by surprise after playing a blistering knock of 31 in just 11 balls.

The first key moment of the match happened in the seventh over when Noor Ahmad took the wicket of Sunil Narine and broke the dangerous partnership with Ajinkya Rahane worth 58.
Another key moment of the match took place in the last ball of the sixteenth over when again Noor took the all important wicket of Andre Russell. The wicket was extremely crucial in the context of the match because Russell was just starting to go hammer and tongs and his wicket meant KKR was at least fifteen to twenty runs short.
The other key moment of the match was when the debutant Urvil Patel took on the KKR bowlers and despite losing two early wickets never allowed their bowlers to settle.
Dewald Brevis’s cameo especially in the tenth over where he scored 30 runs off Vaibhav Aarora and changed the match scenario in CSK’s favour.
And the final key moment happened when MS Dhoni rolled back the years and hit that all important six of Andre Russell showing his class yet again.
