In a high-voltage series where New Zealand takes on their neighbours, Australia, we expect a lot of fireworks to be displayed by both teams in this series. Australia, as we all know, is the champion side in the white ball format as well, and they too will be eyeing to make a strong squad for the World Cup next year. It's always an interesting contest when these two teams face each other, and every game goes down to the last ball bowled. Mitchell Santner and the Blackcaps will look to defeat Australia and gain momentum ahead of a big home season in this series.
In an extended white ball series, New Zealand will be facing their new rivals, England, at the Hagley Oval starting from 18th October. England and New Zealand have a bitter-sweet rivalry, especially after the ODI World Cup final 2019. These two teams often give nail-biter matches, and we could expect the same as well from this series. Interestingly the red ball skipper of England Ben Stokes originates from New Zealand and he was the player of the match in the 2019 ODI world cup final and who could forget that match as it went down to the super over and England was declared winner due to the boundary count rule and this gave birth to a new rivalry in world cricket.
In a full tour West Indies take on New Zealand in their backyard. As everyone knows West Indies is an unpredictable team when it comes to T20 cricket and can beat any team on their day. While the white ball format excites us but also the test series becomes important for the Kiwis as the new WTC cycle begins for them, and they cannot take any match lightly as this might cost them some crucial points in the WTC points table. West Indies is considered a slightly easier opponent, and New Zealand will look to make the best of this opportunity, whereas on the other hand, under the leadership of Roston Chase, West Indies look to beat New Zealand and come up in the ranks. As they will play 3 3-day practice matches in Bert Sutcliffe Oval, which will be a good warm-up for them for the upcoming series. The warm-up game will help them adapt to the conditions in New Zealand.
This series will be a perfect practice for both teams ahead of the T20 World Cup, as the players will depart for the IPL after this series and come back for the World Cup. South Africa were the runners-up in the last T20 World Cup. Both teams have some great players like David Miller, Marco Jansen, and Kagiso Rabada. On the other hand, New Zealand too has some big names from T20 cricket like skipper Mitchell Santner, Trent Boult, and Glenn Phillips. Not to forget that these two teams are the best fielding teams going around in world cricket, so we can witness some thrilling cricket, especially in this series.
