Cricket Australia Release WBBL 2025 Schedule; Final Match Scheduled on 13 December

WBBL 2025 Full Schedule

The WBBL 2025 season will kick off a little later than normal due to the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 in India that concludes on November 2. The WBBL season will commence from November 9 with a triple header on the opening day.

The WBBL’s 12th season will kick off with the opening match of the season to be played between the Melbourne Renegades and Brisbane Heat in a WBBL 2024 final rematch in Brisbane. 

In the upcoming games, the Sydney Thunder and Hobart Hurricanes, the 2023 Women's Big Bash League finalists, will square off, while the Perth Scorchers will play the Sydney Sixers to end the first day of play in Perth.

The remaining two teams out of the eight clubs participating in the tournament, the Melbourne Stars and the Sydney Sixers, will be in action on the following day on 10 November. That will mean that all eight teams would have played their opening fixture of the Women's Big Bash League (WBBL) season 12 on the first two days of the season.

Among some other notable matches, the Sydney Derby between the Sydney Sixers and the Sydney Thunder has been scheduled to be played on November 15 and 30. Meanwhile, the Melbourne Derby between the Melbourne Stars and the defending champions Melbourne Renegades will be played on November 16 and 29.

In other big news, except for the Adelaide Oval’s two assigned matches on November 28, the other big venues like the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) and the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) have not been assigned any matches for the WBBL 2025 season due to scheduling constraints.

WBBL 2025 Playoffs Explained

There will be a total of 43 matches played this season among the eight teams in a double round-robin and knockout format. After the end of the league, the team at the top of the points table will qualify directly for the final match. The 3rd and 4th placed teams will play The Knockout match, with the winner of that match facing off against the 2nd placed team in the Challenger match to qualify for the final match against the top of the table team, who have already qualified for the final.

Men's Big Bash League (BBL) 2025

Just a day after the Women's Big Bash League final on December 13, the men's BBL 2025 season gets underway on December 14.. It will be the 15th season of the Men's Big Bash League, with the Hobart Hurricanes the defending champions.

The BBL 2025-2026 season will consist of a total of 44 matches between the same eight teams as the Women's Big Bash League. The season’s opening match will be played between the two most dominant and consistent teams in the league's history, the Perth Scorchers and the Sydney Sixers, on December 14.

The tournament will start on December 14, 2025, and will continue until January 25, 2026. The playoffs will follow the same system as the IPL, with the top two teams fighting in a Qualifier match for a direct place in the final. 

The 3rd and 4th placed teams will play the Knockout match, with the winner set to face the loser of the qualifier in the Challenger match. The winner of this match will then qualify for the final against the team which won the qualifier match earlier.
