Who Is WCL Owner Harshit Tomar?

Harshit Tomar is a sports enthusiast and entrepreneur who is the CEO and a co-owner of the World Championships of Legends, shares with the Bollywood actor Ajay Devgn. Tomar founded the WCL with a vision to bring together retired cricketing legends from across the globe for a nostalgic, fan-centric tournament. Tomar’s partnership with Ajay Devgn, a Bollywood superstar, added glamour and commercial appeal to the tournament, attracting major sponsors and global viewership. Despite his success, Tomar has largely stayed out of the public eye, maintaining a low profile on his social media. His decision to speak out on the India-Pakistan controversy marks a rare moment of public engagement, reflecting the gravity of the situation and its impact on the tournament’s reputation.

Future of the WCL amid the IND vs. PAK Champions Controversy

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) responded by imposing a blanket ban on its players’ participation in future WCL editions, labeling the cancellations as biased and lacking sporting integrity. Pakistan Champions, awarded points for the forfeited matches, advanced to the final but lost to South Africa Champions

The WCL organizers issued a statement apologizing for “unintentionally causing discomfort” and clarified a viral video suggesting on-field interaction between the teams, confirming no such interaction occurred. The second season of the WCL concluded on August 2, with South Africa emerging as champions amid the India vs Pakistan controversy throughout the tournament.

The tournament’s appeal lies in its ability to bring together cricketing legends from rival nations, but the cancellations have raised questions about its ability to navigate geopolitical complexities. Tomar remains optimistic, emphasizing that lessons have been learned.

He said, “We want to bring joy to fans, not division.”

Despite the controversies, the 2025 WCL edition showcased memorable performances, with players like Brett Lee and Yusuf Pathan earning accolades. For now, Tomar’s message is clear: the WCL will adapt, respect national sentiments, and strive to deliver cricket that resonates with fans worldwide. Whether India and Pakistan will face off in future editions remains uncertain, but the show must go on.
