In this era of power hitting, batsmen often try to hit the ball immediately after coming into the innings. In this list, RCB’s West Indian all-rounder Romario Shepherd is the first in this list as he has scored the fastest fifty of the season in just 14 balls against their arch rivals CSK. Then the 14 years old Vaibhav Suryavanshi from RR is second in this list. In the match against GT, Vaibhav reached his half century in just 17 balls. Then comes Heinrich Klaasen who is third in this list, as he too reached his fifty in just 17 balls.

IPL 2024 was a brilliant season for the batters. Many players scored the fastest fifties in IPL 2024. In the second season with the impact player rule, it seemed like teams got the hang of the new rule. Jake Fraser McGurk the young Aussie sensation scored the fastest half-century in the season not once but twice. The Australian on both occasions reached his fifty in 15 balls. His first of the two came against the Sunrisers Hyderabad while his second came against Mumbai Indians. On the second rank, it is a three-way tie. SRH’s openers, Abhishek Sharma (once) and Travis Head (twice) scored their fifties in 16 balls.

1. Yashasvi Jaiswal (13 balls)

Yashasvi Jaiswal holds the record for scoring the fastest fifty in the IPL. Jaiswal scored a half-century in just 13 balls against Kolkata Knight Riders. He had raced to the fifty even before the powerplay was over. After reaching the fifty-run mark in 13 balls he was ready to score big. The Indian youngster scored 98 runs in just 47 balls while remaining unbeaten. The left-handed batter in his knock smashed 12 fours and five sixes. Chasing a target of 150, Jaiswal’s knock helped Rajasthan Royals to win the match in 13.1 overs. Even though Jaiswal’s record is impressive there are chances that it could be broken in the future looking at how the 2024 season went.

3. Pat Cummins (14 balls)

Pat Cummins smashed the joint second-fastest half-century against the Mumbai Indians in 2022. The Australian captain brought up the milestone in 14 balls against the five-time champions. Cummins is possibly the least expected name on the list. The right-arm fast bowler channelled his batting skills as he stunned the Jasprit Bumrah-led bowling attack of MI. In his knock, Cummins smashed four fours and six sixes. Cummins remained not out as he scored 56 runs in 15 balls and helped KKR chase down the target of 162 runs in 16 overs.

4. Yusuf Pathan (15 balls)

Yusuf Pathan ranks fourth on this list for the fastest fifties in IPL. Pathan is one of the very few players who makes it into the list for scoring the fastest centuries as well as the fastest fifties. The veteran Indian batter also has the second-fastest century in IPL. Pathan scored the fourth-fastest fifty in the IPL against the Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2014. His knock was the reason KKR could finish in the top two spots as the powerful inning came in KKR’s last match of the league stage. It was one of those games where Pathan decided to take up the task of improving the net run rate on his own. The former Indian batter smashed a half-century in just 15 balls and went on to score 72 runs in 22 balls. Pathan hit five fours and seven sixes during his stay at the crease. His knock helped KKR to chase down the target of 161 runs in only 14.2 overs.

5. Sunil Narine (15 balls)

Cummins and Pathan are followed by another KKR player Sunil Narine ranks fifth on this list for the fastest fifties in IPL. Narine too notched up a fifty in just 15 balls. It was one of those matches at the Chinnaswamy Stadium where the bowlers regretted playing this sport. Chirs Lynn and Sunil Narine had smashed the RCB bowlers all around the stadium and also brought up their century stand in just the powerplay. Narine on the other hand was enjoying his time at the top of the order. The mystery spinner scored a fifty in just 15 balls. However, Narine could not convert the start into a big one as he was dismissed after scoring 54 runs in 17 balls.
