The opening batter started a bit slow in his innings. His half-century came in 37 balls and after his initial struggle, McDermott took full toll on the bowling from the Renegades. He reached his ton in another 16 balls. He could have easily finished his innings unbeaten but was run out as he was trying to steal a bye on the last ball of the innings.

The 30-year-old made 140 runs in only 57 balls at a strike rate of 245. He smashed 10 fours and 12 sixes in his innings.
