Mitchell Owen scored the most runs in BBL 2024/25. With 452 runs, Owen topped the run-scoring charts and even helped Hobart Hurricanes win their first BBL title. His strike rate of 203.60 meant that the opener for Hurricanes was easily the best batter of the season. Owen provided explosive starts consistently and played a spectacular knock of 108 runs in the final. His century was the joint-fastest in the history of the BBL.
David Warner scored 405 runs in 12 matches and ranks second on the list for most runs in the season. Young batting sensation, Cooper Connolly playing for Perth Scorchers ranks third on the list with 351 runs in the season.

D’Arcy Short is one of the many cricketers who have benefited from the Big Bash. The left-handed opener burst onto the scene in the BBL 2017/18. Playing for the Hobart Hurricanes, Short scored 572 runs in 2017/18 and 637 runs in 2018/19. For the two consecutive seasons, the 34-year-old scored the most runs in the season. His batting exploits earned him a contract in the IPL as well as a place in the Australian team.
He struggled at the international level where he managed to play only 31 limited overs matches. Runs have dried for Short even at the Big Bash in the last few years. In the last two seasons, he has only managed to score 398 runs in 21 innings. His strike rate during the period is only 117.
Moises Henriques has the 4th most runs in the BBL. The Sydney Sixers skipper has scored 3,139 runs in the tournament. Henriques is already an invaluable asset to his team as a skipper having won two titles in the tournament in 2019/20 and 2020/21. While the two-time BBL-winning skipper does not possess a great strike rate, he relies on consistency to win matches for the Sixers.
His best season in the league came in 2021/22 when the right-hander made 440 runs. His runs came at a fairly quick rate of 133.33 with an average of 36.66. Henriques’ performance helped the Sixers to reach their third consecutive final as they finished as the runner-up.

Glenn Maxwell has the 3rd most runs in the BBL. The batting all-rounder is arguably the greatest T20 player in the country. Maxwell has scored 3,213 runs in the Big Bash, however, it is his strike rate that makes him stand apart from the rest of the batters. Maxwell’s strike rate of 152.51 is the 2nd highest in the BBL history.
What makes Maxwell even more successful in the BBL is his all-round abilities. With the ball in hand, the right-arm off-spinner is more than handy and has taken 45 wickets in the tournament.
Aaron Finch retired as one of the best batters in the BBL. The former Australian T20I skipper scored 3,311 runs in the format. He is one of the very few players to play all 13 seasons of the premier T20 tournament with a single team.
The opening batter played for the Melbourne Renegades throughout his career. He won the trophy in 2018/19 which remains the only time MR has won the BBL. In eight matches during the season, Finch scored 220 runs and captained the team to the title.
Chris Lynn has the most runs in the BBL. The opening batter has 3,955 runs in the tournament. With Finch retired and Lynn continuing to play for the Adelaide Strikers, it looks highly unlikely that his record will be broken in the near future. For 11 seasons, the right-handed batter played for Brisbane Heat where Lynn and Brendon McCullum formed one of the strongest partnerships in history. The duo shared three 100-run partnerships.
In 2012/13, Lynn won his only BBL title with BH. The Brisbane-born batter scored 175 runs at a strike rate of 144.62. His most prolific season came in 2020/21 where Lynn scored 458 runs at a strike rate of 154.72 in 13 matches.
