Mitchell Owen hit the most sixes in BBL 2024/25. The opening batter for Hobart Hurricanes smashed 36 sixes in the season and helped his team win the BBL for the first time. Owen’s best came in the final against David Warner’s Sydney Thunder as the opener scored a record-equalling 39-ball ton.
Glenn Maxwell with 27 sixes in the season ranks second on the list. Maxwell’s performances helped the Melbourne Stars reach the knockout after losing their first five games. Young batting sensation, Cooper Connolly with 19 sixes is third on this list. He was one of the few positives for the Perth Scorchers.

Alex Hales has the 5th most sixes in the BBL. The English batter has hit 107 sixes in the league. He holds the record for hitting the most sixes for an overseas batter in the league. If not for his issues when he did not appear for drug tests prior to the 2019 World Cup, Hales would have gone on to have an illustrious international career.
However, his absence from the England cricket team allowed Hales to travel the World as a T20 specialist. The opening batter during this time lit up the Big Bash in particular in the 2019/20 and 2020/21 seasons. During these two seasons, Hales hit 53 sixes and was called back to the national squad a year later.
The former Australian captain, Aaron Finch has the fourth most sixes in the Big Bash League. He has hit 118 sixes playing for the Melbourne Renegades. Finch was one of the most hard-hitting opening batters from Australia. In white-ball cricket, the opening batter found the most success. He was one of the most in-demand T20 players and played for as many as nine teams in the IPL.
In the Big Bash League, Finch has found a higher level of consistency. In six seasons, the former Australian batter has hit more than 10 sixes. His best season in terms of six-hitting came in 2021/22 when he hit 18 sixes. He retired from the marquee T20 league after a disappointing season in 2023/24. In five matches, the opening batter scored 66 runs and did not hit a single six.

Ben McDermott has the second most sixes in the BBL. The wicketkeeper batter has 131 sixes to his name. The 29-year-old has been part of the Hobart Hurricanes for nine seasons where he has enjoyed most of his success. McDermott has the knack of playing big knocks and therefore has the most centuries in the BBL.
He came under the spotlight with his first century in the tournament. His knock of 114 consisted of nine sixes and helped his team chase down the target of 223 runs against Melbourne Renegades. His best in terms of six-hitting came during the BBL 2020/21 and 2021/22. In these two seasons, McDermott hit 50 sixes.
Glenn Maxwell has the third most sixes in the Big Bash League. He has smashed 149 sixes in the 13 seasons of the tournament. Maxwell is known for big hits and clears boundaries all around the world with ease. The ability to hit sixes allows the Australian all-rounder to have the highest strike rate in the BBL for players with at least 1,200 runs.
Chris Lynn has the most sixes in the BBL. The opening batter has hit 220 sixes and sits comfortably at the top of the list. Lynn has the most runs in the BBL as well. There has not been a single batter to match what Lynn has done so far in the history of the BBL. Unlike most other batters in the tournament, the opening batter has found unreal consistency season after season when it comes to hitting sixes. The Brisbane-born batter has hit more than 20 sixes in a single season five times.
Lynn’s best season in terms of hitting sixes was 2015/16. The opening batter smashed 27 sixes in the season. Twice, Lynn has smashed 26 sixes in a season as well. His pull shot against short balls from the fastest of pacers has fetched a lot of sixes. While Maxwell and McDermott are competing for the second spot on the list, it looks highly unlikely that any batter will challenge Lynn in terms of being the ultimate six-hitter in BBL.
Josh Brown holds the record for hitting the most sixes in a single innings in the BBL. Brown smashed 12 sixes in his knock of 140 runs for the Brisbane Heat in the Challenger match of BBL 2023/24. Following Brown on the list with 11 sixes in an innings are Chris Gayle, Craig Simmons, Chris Lynn (twice), and Mitchell Owen.
