While it was the batters who stole all the limelight in IPL 2024 few bowlers showed their class by picking four-wicket hauls. There were 13 bowlers who picked up four wickets in IPL 2024 innings. Among these 13 bowlers, Jasprit Bumrah was the highest wicket-taker. Bumrah picked up 20 wickets in IPL 2024. T Natarajan and Arshdeep Singh picked up 19 wickets each. Tushar Deshpande and Mitchell Starc are ranked fourth and fifth on this list having taken 17 wickets in the season which included a four-wicket haul. Only two of these 13 players were spinners. Kuldeep Yadav and Sai Kishore were the only spinners to pick up four wickets in IPL 2024 innings. Joshua Little for the Gujarat Titans played only one match but still was able to pick up four wickets in IPL 2024 innings.
In his illustrious IPL career, Sunil Narine has given many memorable performances over the years. Narine has taken four wickets in IPL innings eight times. The West Indian spinner has been a mystery for many great batters in the IPL. Narine has incredible accuracy and is able to apply pressure right from his very first ball. The spinner, thanks to his accuracy with the ball and powerful hitting with the bat, has been able to win a record three MVP awards in the IPL. Even though he has improved his batting prowess in recent times, Narine’s bowling still remains his most potent weapon. He looks in good shape to play for a few more years in the IPL so he can still extend his lead at the top of this list for most four wickets in IPL.
The highest wicket-taker in IPL, Yuzvendra Chahal has picked up the most four wickets in IPL innings for an Indian bowler. Chahal has managed to pick up four or more wickets in an IPL match seven times. The Indian leg-spinner has achieved this feat in spite of playing in the smallest stadium in the country for a big part of his career. While Chahal already has the record for picking up the most wickets in IPL, he will be eyeing the record for picking up most four-fers in IPL. If Chahal manages to keep his consistency for a few more years then he will certainly be in the race for becoming the bowler with the most four wickets in IPL innings.
Lasith Malinga has picked up the most four wickets in IPL innings for a fast bowler. The Sri Lankan legend currently jointly ranks second on the list for most four wickets in IPL innings. Malinga had the ability to trouble batters with his stock deliveries. His toe-crushing yorkers and slower bouncers proved to be difficult for any batter. In his 11-year-old career with Mumbai Indians, Malinga played a crucial role in four of their title wins. However, as Malinga has retired players like Kagiso Rabada can overtake the legendary bowler.
In spite of playing only 80 matches in IPL, Kagiso Rabada has picked up four wickets in IPL innings six times. The South African pacer has proved to be a great bowler for his skipper whenever they are in need of a wicket.
Rabada has picked up 117 wickets in 80 matches showcasing his incredible efficiency. While his economy is on the higher end he makes it up with his bowling strike rate. Looking at his knack of picking up four-wicket hauls quickly there are high chances that he could overtake Malinga.
The man with the most hat-tricks in IPL, Amit Mishra ranks fifth on this list for picking up the most four wickets in IPL innings. Amit Mishra has five four-wicket hauls to his names. The Indian leg-spinner has been a seasoned performer in IPL. With the number of games he plays in IPL decreasing year after year, it looks unlikely that he will be able to add another four-wicket haul to his name.
As is the case with many other bowling record lists of IPL, Yuzvendra Chahal tops this list as well. The leg-spinner has taken the most four wickets in IPL innings for an Indian bowler. Chahal has seven four-wicket hauls next to his name. Another leg-spinner follows Chahal on this list. Amit Mishra is ranked second with five four-wicket hauls for an Indian bowler. Bowlers like Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Jasprit Bumrah and Mohit Sharma hold the record for picking up the most four wickets in IPL innings for Indian pacers.
