The season of Bamboo Blasters has not been special. The team has played 8 matches so far in which it has won only 3 and lost 5. In the last 5 matches, it has lost 5 times in a row. The team is now officially out of the tournament. The same problem was there in the last match as well – the top order got out early. Only Kevin Gassie showed fight by scoring 39 runs. The rest of the batting was a flop. In bowling, Dillan John showed a little effort but Piton Stickers chased it easily. Blasters now only have a chance to save pride. The season has to end well.
Calabash Giants are also in almost the same condition. They have won only 2 out of 8 matches and are at the bottom of the team table. They put up a good fight against Whiptail Smashers in the last match. Sadrack Descartes first took 4 wickets in bowling and then almost won the chase by scoring 28 runs in batting. But by the last over, they won the match by 8 runs. There is nothing left for the Giants to lose now, but they would like to end the season with a win. The team has talent, just a little finish is missing in every match.
The pitch of the Daren Sammy National Cricket Stadium is considered quite good for batting. There is equal bounce and pace on this surface, which makes hitting shots easy. Hence, high-scoring innings are quite common here in T20 matches.
But as the match progresses, the pitch starts to grip a bit and spinners get help, especially in the middle and death overs. As there is less movement for fast bowlers, they have to rely on cutters and hard length balls.
After winning the toss, most of the captains prefer to take bowling so that the pitch settles down a bit and batting becomes easier later. Overall, this pitch is balanced, where batting dominates but smart bowling can also change the flow of the match.
Bamboo Blasters and Calabash Giants have clashed only once so far in this tournament. And in that match Blasters were completely defeated.
Stephen Naitram set the stage on fire with his bat. He scored 82 runs in just 31 balls, which included 10 sixes. Due to his explosive batting Bamboo Blasters made a strong score of 124/4 in 10 overs.
In reply Calabash Giants had a good start, Sadrack Descartes played a powerful innings of 62 runs, but as soon as he was out the whole middle order collapsed. Giants collapsed from 88/1 to 110/9.
Khan Elcock of Blasters did wonders in bowling – took 5 wickets giving away just 8 runs. On the basis of this performance Blasters won the match by 14 runs.
So far Bamboo Blasters have been dominating H2H. Giants now have a chance to take revenge.
