Calabash Giants have not enjoyed the couple of matches they have played so far in the season. They lost both of their matches against Bamboo Blasters and Piton Sticker. The last match they lost was against Piton Stickers which they lost by 21 runs. Piton Stickers scored 120 runs while batting first with scores from Julian Sylvester and Christian Charlery. Caleb Thomas dismissed three batters. Calabash Giants could only score 99 runs in the counter attack. Stephen Abraham scored 40 runs in 22 balls. Captain Sadrack Descartes scored a slow 15 runs off 11 balls but was not able to give the team a perfect start in a big chase and they lost the match by 21 runs.
Whiptail Smashers also lost their first two matches in a row against Piton Stickers and Iyanola Heritage. They are not comfortable in both the innings. Their batting is their weakest point out of the other two. They have to score good scores to bring any fortune to their fate. In the last match, Iyanola Heritage scored 121 runs against Whiptail Smashers in 10 overs. Johnson Charles, Kensley Paul, and Xavier Gabriel scored the majority of runs. Jeandell Cyril did just fine in the bowling in comparison to other bowlers. Whiptail Smashers failed in chasing 121 runs and could only score 103/2. The problem lies in their middle order. Their openers scored quick runs but the middle-order disappointed to do so.
Daren Sammy National Cricket Stadium is a great stadium which has hosted a lot of matches for West Indies and domestic teams. Located in St Lucia, this venue has been a part of over 100 international matches. The pitch of Daren Sammy National Cricket Stadium, Gros Islet is a balanced pitch with help for both the batter and bowlers.
The batters should know which ball to fit in this match. There can be a help for the bowlers in the first few overs in the match. If the openers can stick in this match, they can score good runs in both the innings. During the previous four T10 matches, the scoring has exceeded the average, with the team batting first and the team batting second each winning two matches.
This season the results have been mixed on this ground and that too because of the neutral nature of this venue. This pitch has witnessed seven matches so far this season and team batting first have won three times while team batting second have won 2 matches. One match was decided in super over.
In the St. Lucia T10 Blast, the Calabash Giants and Whiptail Smashers have not faced off in a single game. This will be the first time these two teams have faced each other. Both teams are participating in their inaugural season. Unfortunately, both clubs are desperate for a win in this encounter after losing their first two games. One of the clubs will have a must-win in this game. The opposing team will be forced to play without any resources.
