Chepauk Super Gillies
Chepauk Super Gillies are moving towards the final very strongly with six wins in six games so far in this edition. They are on the top of the table with 12 points in their bank. They defeated Trichy Grand Cholas by 4 runs in the last match to continue their win streak. Chepauk Super Gillies batted first to score 178 runs. Captain Baba Aparajith played an inning of 63 with Vijay Shankar who scored 59 runs to take the team to a defendable total.
Jayaraman Suresh Kumar and Jagatheesan Kousik were taking Trichy Grand Cholas towards a comfortable win when J Prem Kumar struck back with three wickets, removing both Suresh and Kousik. Prem Kumar also sent back hard hitter R Rajkumar to pull off an effective win. Albeit Vijay Shankar’s economical spell of just 23 runs and a wicket of Jafar Jamal was very valuable for Chepauk Super Gillies.
Siechem Madurai Panthers
Siechem Madurai Panthers are sitting in the second last spot in the TNPL points table with two wins in six matches. They are losing close games just like Rajasthan Royals were losing in IPL 2025. They are on a two match losing streak in the tournament and this could be their third loss in a row against the strongest team of TNPL 2025. They suffered a loss against Trichy Grand Cholas in the last match by four wickets. Batting first Siechem Madurai Panthers set a target of 132 runs for Trichy Grand Cholas with scores from Atheeq Ur Rahman, C Sarath Kumar, and Gurjapneet Singh.
C Sarath Kumar has been saving the team from low scores in the last two matches now. Trichy Grand Cholas chased down the target easily in 18 overs with Jayaraman Suresh Kumar playing a good effective knock of 44 runs at the top. Gowtham Thamarai Kannan and Karthik Meiyappan, two new faces in the team pulled back the match a few inches towards Siechem Madurai Panthers but R Rajkumar had other plans in that match who scored 37 off 15 balls.
The NPR College Ground, Dindigul has been a fantastic ground which has been hosting TNPL from the very first season. This ground has hosted a total of 71 TNPL matches. The chasing side have won 42 matches while the batting first team have won only 29 matches so far in this venue.
This is an average scoring ground with an average first innings score of 158. Nellai Royal Kings once scored 203 runs in the first innings which remains the best score of this ground. Teams have not been able to score over 150 runs in 30 matches which shows its not an easy wicket to bat on but the first few matches will have fresh wickets. These fresh wickets can be very effective for the batters in the initial leg of Dindigul.
Chepauk Super Gillies and Siechem Madurai Panthers have clashed 4 times in TNPL so far. But the surprising thing is that a strong team like Chepauk has won only one match. The remaining 3 matches were won by Madurai Panthers. This is shocking to see because Chepauk is the most successful team in TNPL.
The last time these two met, Chepauk scored 156 runs while batting first. Baba Aparajith scored 41 runs and Abhishek Tanwar scored 26* in the end. M Poiyamozhi and Sunny Sandhu took 2 wickets each for Madurai. SMP could only reach 133/5 while chasing. Robin Bist made 36 and Harish Kumar made 33*. But Chepauk won the match and finally got their first win against Madurai.
Let's see today who wins - CSG moves forward or SMP's magic starts again.
