London Spirit Women had a wonderful 2024 season. The team won 4 of the last 5 matches of the previous season, including both the Eliminator and the Final. In the Final, they defeated Welsh Fire Women by 4 wickets to win the title. Georgia Redmayne played calm and sensible batting and Deepti Sharma finished the match in the last over to give the team victory. The bowling unit was also strong – bowlers like Sarah Glenn, Eva Gray and Charlie Dean made an impact in every match. In 2024, they handled both teamwork and match pressure well. Now this is their first match of 2025 and being the defending champions, the team's confidence will be high.
The 2024 season of Oval Invincibles Women was overall good. In the regular season, they won 5 out of 8 matches, but their journey came to a halt after losing to London Spirit in the Eliminator. Their batting flopped in that important match. Capsey and Marizanne Kapp fought a bit, but the whole team was all out for 113. Bowling also could not handle the pressure, which was taken advantage of by the London Spirit. But now this is the new season of 2025, and the Oval team would like to learn from its past mistakes and make a fresh start. With players like Capsey, Kapp and Ryana MacDonald-Gay, his team can also be dangerous if they perform better this time.
The Lord's pitch is balanced for T20 matches. Fast bowlers get some help at the beginning of the match as the slope here helps in seam movement. If there are clouds then swing can also be obtained. But as the match progresses the pitch becomes flat and batsmen find it easier to hit shots.
Spinners can get some turn in the middle overs when the pitch becomes a little dry. The average first innings score here is 151. The toss is also important because if the weather is clear then batting gets an advantage. The highest score at Lord's is 199/4 and the lowest score is 85/10. Overall, the pitch is fair for both teams, one just has to play carefully in the beginning.
A total of 8 matches have been played so far between London Spirit Women and Oval Invincibles Women. Oval Invincibles have won 4 of these matches, while London Spirit has enjoyed victory only 2 times. 1 match was tied – which happened only in the 2024 season – and the result of 1 match could not be decided (no result). Although the stats are in favor of Oval, recent performance has gone in favor of London Spirit. In the last season, these two teams came face to face three times – in which London won one match, Oval won one, and one match was tied. The last time these two clashed was in the Eliminator match of 2024 – where London Spirit defeated Oval Invincibles by 8 wickets. Oval’s batting performance was quite a struggle in that match, only Capsey and Kapp were able to fight a little. London’s bowlers – especially Charlie Dean, Sarah Glenn, and Eva Gray – created pressure and took wickets. Later, Georgia Redmayne calmly finished the match by playing a solid innings of 53*. This victory took London Spirit to the final, where they eventually won the trophy as well. This time it is the first match of 2025, and both the teams would want to start this new season with a new mindset.
