The season for North Delhi Strikers has been a bit of a struggle since the beginning. They have played just one match so far in which they lost to Central Delhi Kings by 8 wickets. Their batting was quite good – Sarthak Ranjan scored 82 runs and Arnav Bugga played a powerful innings of 67 runs. Both took the team to 174/7. But due to middle-order collapse the team could not progress further. The team lagged behind in bowling and fielding. CDK chased the target of 223 in just 17.3 overs. Only Kuldeep Yadav was a little impactful, rest of the bowlers proved expensive. Overall, there are some positives in batting, but North Delhi Strikers will have to work hard on bowling and match finishing.
Outer Delhi Warriors have also played only one match so far in which they lost by 40 runs against New Delhi Tigers. Anshuman Hooda gave the best performance in bowling, taking 4 wickets, but the team could not stop a big score like 222 runs. Rest of the bowlers also added a little extra, which increased the pressure. The team definitely showed fight in batting – Dhruv Singh added some life to the match by scoring 42* runs in just 16 balls. Sanat Sangwan and Shreshth Yadav also played good innings. But their tempo was slow in front of such a big target. The team will now have to work on bowling discipline and the strike rate of the middle-order, only then it can return to the path of victory.
Arun Jaitley Stadium, which was earlier known as Feroz Shah Kotla, is considered a batting paradise for T20 cricket. Flat pitch, reliable bounce and small boundaries – everything is in favor of the batsmen. In the matches of IPL 2024, the average first innings score here went up to 235, which shows how easy this pitch is to score runs.
But, as the pitch gets old, it gradually slows down and this is the point when spinners come into the match. Toss is also very important. Most of the teams choose to bowl first due to the dew factor. Pacers might get some swing initially but medium pacers are not very effective here. Spinners, especially leg spinners, have the power to turn the match.
There has never been any match between North Delhi Strikers and Outer Delhi Warriors till now. Both teams will face each other for the first time in Delhi Premier League 2025. Outer Delhi Warriors are new this season, whereas North Delhi Strikers is already an established team which has played in the previous season as well. This match will be a new and exciting challenge for both. The previous form of North Delhi Strikers has been a bit mixed – they have won 2, lost 2 and had 1 no result in their last 5 matches. The batting department of the team is performing well, but the bowling still needs improvement. Whereas Outer Delhi Warriors will enter the field with a new squad and this will be a chance for them to show their impact. Both teams have talent, now it remains to be seen who becomes the winner of the first H2H face-off.
