7:13 PM: DC wins by 25 runs!

Chennai Super Kings lost their third match on the trot. While Delhi Capitals registered their third win of the season in as many games.

6:54 PM: Another horrific loss for CSK loading?

Chennai Super Kings are at 112/5 after 16 overs. Need 72 runs in 24 balls. Shankar: 48* (41), Dhoni: 11* (15)

CSK’s fortress could be breached once again in the season. Only a vintage Dhoni special can save the hosts now.

6:46 PM: Vijay Shankar smashes a couple of fours

Chennai Super Kings are at 106/5 after 15 overs. Need 78 runs in 30 balls. Shankar: 46* (39), Dhoni: 9* (11)

Vijay Shankar smashed a couple of fours against Kuldeep Yadav in the 15th over. However, the asking rate has climbed to more than 15 runs per over.

6:35 PM: CSK out of the game?

Chennai Super Kings are at 86/5 after 13 overs. Need 98 runs in 42 balls. Shankar: 29* (29), Dhoni: 7* (8)

The Chennai Super Kings have once again been rattled at their home. The hosts could very well lose their third game on the trot at the hands of Delhi Capitals. The spin duo of Vipraj Nigam and Kuldeep Yadav has bowled with great control and has proven to be much better than CSK’s spinners.

6:28 PM: Half the CSK side back to the pavilion

Chennai Super Kings are at 76/5 after 11 overs. Need 108 runs in 54 balls. Shankar: 25* (24), Dhoni: 1* (1)

Kuldeep Yadav came to the party and dismissed his Indian teammate, Ravindra Jadeja. The Indian all-rounder was completely outfoxed by the left-arm wrist spinner. CSK are in deep trouble and their adopted son, MS Dhoni is at the crease. Can he win the match for the hosts?

6:23 PM: Six and Gone! Vipraj gets his second

Chennai Super Kings are at 69/4 after 10 overs. Need 115 runs in 60 balls. Shankar: 19* (20), Jadeja: 2* (2)

At the end of nine overs, DC was in a great position when the strategic timeout was taken. The first ball after the timeout was struck for a six by Shivam Dube and it looked like the boundary would change the momentum. However, on the very next delivery, Vipraj Nigam bounced back and dismissed the left-handed batter.

6:16 PM: CSK in deep trouble

Chennai Super Kings are at 58/3 after 9 overs. Need 126 runs in 66 balls. Shankar: 12* (13), Shivam: 17* (18)

CSK’s innings with the bat in hand seem to be going nowhere. Both Vijay Shankar and Shivam Dube are struggling to maintain a strike rate of more than run-a-ball. The required rate has climbed up to almost 12 runs per over. The two batters would need to fire quickly or they would leave too much to chase in very few overs for the likes of MS Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja.

6:08 PM: Starc bowls a quiet over

Chennai Super Kings are at 49/3 after 7 overs. Need 135 runs in 78 balls. Shankar: 12* (12), Shivam: 7* (7)

Mitchell Starc came on to bowl his third over right after the powerplay bowled a cheap over. The veteran Australian pacer conceded only three runs in the seventh over.

6:04 PM: Devon Conway departs, Vipraj picks up his first wicket

Chennai Super Kings are at 46/3 after 6 overs. Need 138 runs in 14 overs. Shankar: 11* (11), Shivam: 5* (2)

Vipraj Nigam bowling his first over of the match took the important wicket of Devon Conway in the last over of the powerplay. CSK has been thrown off in the powerplay itself. They have lost their top order in the first six overs and now Shivam Dube and Vijay Shankar would have to bat out of their skins to win the match for the hosts.

Shankar has already been saved once by umpires. However, in spite of being handed a life by the umpires, he has struggled to make contact.

5:47 PM: Skipper Gaikwad departs! Starc picks up his first wicket

Chennai Super Kings are at 20/2 after 3 overs. Need 164 runs in 17 overs. Conway: 5* (6), Shankar: 0* (3)

Chennai Super Kings has been put under extreme pressure. Captain, Ruturaj Gaikwad was dismissed in the third over by Mitchell Starc. The right-handed batter was looking to collect a sixer but was caught at deep square leg by Jake Fraser-McGurk.

5:42 PM: Mukesh strikes in his first over

Chennai Super Kings are at 15/1 after 2 overs. Need 169 runs in 18 overs. Conway: 5* (6), Gaikwad: 1* (1)

Chennai Super Kings was tasked with a difficult chase of 184 runs at their own home. Rachin Ravindra who had looked in great touch in the first two games has failed in the next two games. Mukesh Kumar bowling his first over dismissed the young batter from New Zealand on the fifth ball of the second over. The Indian pacer induced a leading edge from Rachin’s bat and completed a safe return catch to send the batter back to the dressing room.

The Kiwi duo of Rachin and Devon Conway had started the second innings on a positive note before the former’s dismissal. Conway playing his first match of the season has looked in decent touch and would like to play a big knock that could solidify his position at the top of the order.

5:15 PM: CSK needs 184 runs to win

The Chennai Super Kings pulled things back in the last five overs. However, the hosts would be challenged in the second innings chasing a target in excess of 180. Chasing such totals has not been their strong suit in recent years. The DC bowlers led by Mitchell Starc, Kuldeep Yadav, and Axar Patel would fancy themselves to lead their side to a win.

In his four overs against his former team, Khaleel picked up JFM’s wicket with the new ball in the first over. In his last over he dismissed Sameer Rizvi to break the momentum gained by the visitors.

Can the Capitals get past 190 in the first innings?

4:30 PM: Pathirana comes into the attack

Delhi Capitals are at 103/3 after 12 overs. Rahul: 42* (29), Rizvi: 4* (4)

CSK’s death overs specialist, Matheesha Pathirana came into the attack to bowl the 12th over. He had a great start to the over but was smashed by KL Rahul for a four on the ball of the over which then ended up going for 11 runs.

Delhi Capitals are at 92/3 after 11 overs. Rahul: 37* (26), Rizvi: 1* (1)

As KL Rahul and Axar were looking to take the game away from the hosts, Noor Ahmad provided an important breakthrough to break the third-wicket stand. The Afghan spinner has been on the money right through the tournament and currently leads the race for the purple cap.
