KL Rahul: 7* (3), Tristan Stubbs: 6* (1)
Delhi Capitals won the match as they successfully chased down 12 runs in the Super Over. KL Rahul and Tristan Stubbs came to the crease for the hosts to face Sandeep Sharma. It was a slower bouncer into the pitch for the first ball, but KL Rahul put on his sprinting shoes as he ran a double. Rahul read Sandeep’s brain as he played a square cut over the fielders to fetch him a four on the second ball of the over.
The pacer bounced back on the very next delivery as he executed a yorker, giving away only a single. Tristan Stubbs, playing his first ball, hit a six to win the match for the hosts.
Ball 1 - Two
Ball 2 - Four
Ball 3 - One
Ball 4 - Six
Shimron Hetmyer: 5* (2), Riyan Parag: 4 (2)
Rajasthan Royals batted first in the Super Over. Shimron Hetmyer and Riyan Parag walked in to bat to face the extreme pace of Mitchell Starc. The left-arm pacer started the super over with a great yorker. However, he missed his mark on the following delivery and was struck for a four by Hetmyer. It was a repeat of the previous delivery on the third ball, but this time it went straight to Axar Patel at the boundary on the bounce, resulting in a single.
A streaky outside edge earned Riyan Parag a four. To make matters worse, Starc, with his back foot, touched the popping crease, and the fourth ball resulted in a no-ball. Parag was then run out on the free hit. Yashasvi Jaiswal walked in to bat. Jaiswal was also run out on the fifth ball of the Super Over. The Royals lost their two wickets, which meant that the Super Over came to an end.
Ball 1 - Dot
Ball 2 - Four
Ball 3 - One
Ball 4 - No Ball Four
Ball 4 - Riyan Parag Run Out
Ball 5 - Yashasvi Jaiwal Run Out
Mitchell Starc has done the impossible. Tasked to defend nine runs in the last over, the Australian pacer has conceded only eight to push this game to a Super Over!
Rajasthan Royals are at 158/2 after 17 overs. Need 31 runs in 18 balls. Nitish: 50* (26), Jurel: 13* (10)
Mohit Sharma bowled an expensive over as RR has made their way to the driver's seat of this match. The veteran pacer was hit for a six by Dhruv Jurel on the third ball of the over.
Nitish Rana has scored a vital fifty in the context of the game. The left-handed batter has struck at a fairly quick rate and has also been fortunate to survive a couple of close shaves in the 15th over.
Can he carry on with his knock and win this for RR? Or will DC bounce back after suffering their first loss of the season in the previous game?
Rajasthan Royals are at 145/2 after 16 overs. Need 44 runs in 24 balls. Nitish: 45* (24), Jurel: 5* (6)
Kuldeep Yadav’s figures took a massive hit as Nitish Rana, who survived a couple of times in the previous over, struck a six and a four in the over. Dhruv Jurel, too, was saved by a review in the over.
Rajasthan Royals are at 132/2 after 15 overs. Need 57 runs in 30 balls. Nitish: 34* (21), Jurel: 3* (3)
Nitish Rana is riding his luck! The left-handed batter was dropped by one of the best fielders in the DC team, Tristan Stubbs, on the first ball of the 15th over. To rub salt into the wounds, it went for a six, and on the following delivery, an outside edge went for a four as well. Rana struck another four to end the over.
Rajasthan Royals are at 116/2 after 14 overs. Need 73 runs in 36 balls. Nitish: 20* (16), Jurel: 2* (2)
Kuldeep Yadav is rarely kept quiet, and tonight is not the day he will be wicketless. The left-arn chinaman has got the crucial wicket of the half-centurion, Yashasvi Jaiswal. It was a full delivery that the left-handed batter was attempting to his for a six over long-on. But Jaiswal could only find Mitchell Starc stationed a few steps ahead of the boundary.
The pressure created in these four overs would hurt the chances of the Royals winning this game. Only 22 runs have been scored since the end of the 11th over. Two of these overs were bowled by Kuldeep, who also picked up his first wicket of the match.
Rajasthan Royals are at 111/1 after 13 overs. Need 78 runs in 42 balls. Jaiswal: 51* (36), Nitish: 17* (13)
Mukesh Kumar has bowled without much control tonight. He is rarely this off-color and has bowled with inconsistent lines and lengths. After conceding 24 runs in his first two overs, the right-arm pacer was welcomed with a four on the first ball of his third over by Nitish Rana. However, he made a comeback in the over and gave away only three runs in the next five balls.
Rajasthan Royals are at 104/1 after 12 overs. Need 85 runs in 48 balls. Jaiswal: 50* (34), Nitish: 11* (9)
Yashasvi Jaiswal has scored a crucial half-century. With his skipper retired hurt, the left-handed opening batter reached his fifty in 34 balls. But the Royals will be wary of the threat that the DC spinners possess and would want Jaiswal to carry on with this knock and see off the chase.
Meanwhile, the hosts have strung together a couple of quiet overs. The 11th and 12th overs by Kuldeep and Mohit Sharma resulted in only 10 runs.
Rajasthan Royals are at 94/1 after 10 overs. Need 95 runs in 60 balls. Jaiswal: 45* (27), Nitish: 6* (4)
Axar Patel’s experiment with giving Tristan Stubbs an over did not work. The DC skipper turned to his part-time spinner with two left-handers on the crease. He was struck for a six by Yashasvi Jaiswal and a four by Nitish Rana.
Rajasthan Royals are at 82/1 after 9 overs. Need 107 runs in 66 balls. Jaiswal: 38* (23), Nitish: 1* (2)
Axar Patel’s poor form with the ball ended on the same night he stepped up with the bat in the first innings. The DC skipper picked up his first wicket of the season on the first ball of his second over by dismissing Riyan Parag. Parag is one of the better batters in the RR lineup against spin. With his wicket, the hosts would now have gotten the first breakthrough they desperately needed.
Rajasthan Royals are at 76/0 after 8 overs. Need 113 runs in 72 balls. Jaiswal: 33* (20), Parag: 8* (10)
Kuldeep Yadav has been the best bowler for Delhi Capitals this season so far. The left-arm wrist spinner was smashed for a four after bowling a couple of dot balls to start his spell. He was struck for a six over his head by Yashasvi Jaiswal.
Rajasthan Royals are at 65/0 after 7 overs. Need 124 runs in 13 overs. Jaiswal: 27* (19), Parag: 3* (5)
Axar Patel, after an impressive performance with the bat in hand in the first innings, carried on with a similar form with the ball in hand. He came into the attack right after the power play and stopped the flow of runs by giving away only two runs in his over.
Rajasthan Royals are at 63/0 after 6 overs. Need 128 runs in 14 overs. Jaiswal: 26* (15), Parag: 2* (3)
Vipraj Nigam’s first over started on the worst note possible. The young leg-spinner once again came into the attack in the power play and was clubbed for a four and a six on the first two balls of the over by Sanju Samson. He then bowled a no-ball on the following delivery to make matters worse. Samson, though, apparently tore his muscle while attempting a cut shot in the over. The RR skipper remained on the crease for one more ball before deciding to walk off as retired hurt. Vipraj made a strong comeback in the rest of the over, giving away only two runs in the last three balls.
Rajasthan Royals are at 50/0 after 5 overs. Need 139 runs in 15 overs. Jaiswal: 26* (15), Samson: 21* (15)
Mohit Sharma, replacing Starc in the attack, started the over nicely. The veteran pacer bowled a couple of dot balls before being hit for a four on the following delivery by Sanju Samson. Mohit had induced a false shot from the RR skipper, but Ashutosh Sharma dropped a catch that went miles into the dark night sky.
Rajasthan Royals are at 45/0 after 4 overs. Need 144 runs in 16 overs. Jaiswal: 26* (15), Samson: 16* (9)
Vipraj Nigam has taken some important wickets for the hosts. The young leg-spinner could break this stand and will be expected to bowl one of the two overs remaining in the power play. So the question remains, how soon will Axar introduce Nigam into the attack?
Rajasthan Royals are at 35/0 after 3 overs. Need 154 runs in 17 overs. Jaiswal: 24* (12), Samson: 8* (6)
Mitchell Starc’s figures of his opening spell took a hit in his second over. He had given only one run off the bat in his first over. But Jaiswal clubbed the veteran pacer for three boundaries on the trot. The over went for 19 runs with the visitors making the best use of the fielding restrictions.
Will Axar Patel turn to the man with the golden arm from the past two games, Vipraj Nigam, to break this stand?
Rajasthan Royals are at 16/0 after 2 overs. Need 173 runs in 18 overs. Jaiswal: 7* (6), Samson: 8* (6)
Mukesh Kumar, bowling the second over of the innings, came into the game as an impact sub. While Starc started the innings on a positive note for the hosts, Mukesh could maintain the same amount of pressure in the following over. The right-arm pacer was welcomed into the attack with a six on the first ball by Sanju Samson. Yashasvi Jaiswal too joined the party in the over and struck a six on the third ball of the over to get off the mark.
Rajasthan Royals are at 2/0 after 1 over. Need 187 runs in 19 overs. Jaiswal: 0* (4), Samson: 1* (2)
Mitchell Starc found some movement in the air in his first over. The left-arm pacer was bowling to Yashasvi Jaiswal. The two players shared a war of words while representing their international sides during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Jaiswal had called out Starc’s bowling to be coming to him ‘too slow’.
Rajasthan Royals, coming into the clash after losing their last two games, bowled superbly for the better part of the first innings. However, the visitors did mess up their death bowling. The last five overs went for 77 runs. Sandeep Sharma, who has been a great bowler in the last overs too, faltered with his lines. He bowled four wides and a no-ball in the last over and gave away 19 runs in the last six balls.
Axar Patel, for the first time this season, played a strong cameo, scoring 34 runs in only 14 balls.
Delhi Capitals are at 146/5 after 17 overs. Stubbs: 15* (10)
After Hasaranga went for 19 runs in the previous over, his compatriot, Maheesh Theekshana, too, bowling his last over, conceded 16 runs in his first five balls. However, he bounced back greatly and dismissed Axar Patel on the last ball of the over.
Delhi Capitals are at 130/4 after 16 overs. Stubbs: 14* (9), Axar: 19* (9)
Axar Patel, after having a quiet tournament so far with the bat in hand, took Wanindu Hasaranga to the cleaners. Bowling his last over, the Sri Lankan spinner faltered in his lines and lengths. He dropped the first ball short and was smacked for a four. Hasaranga overcompensated on the following two deliveries and was hit for a six and a four each.
Delhi Capitals are at 106/4 after 14 overs. Stubbs: 8* (5), Axar: 1* (1)
Abhishek Porel's knock could be divided into two parts. He scored 32 runs off his first 19 balls in the power play. But, after the first six overs, the left-handed batter could only manage to score 17 runs in 18 balls before being dismissed. Wanindu Hasaranga accounted for his dismissal, picking up his first wicket of the match.
Delhi Capitals are at 98/3 after 13 overs. Porel: 49* (36), Stubbs: 1* (1)
Jofra Archer came for a fresh spell and struck with his fourth ball of the over. The English pacer dismissed KL Rahul. It was the first time in the IPL that the pacer dismissed Rahul.
The track at Arun Jaitley Stadium is proving to be a sluggish one. Abhishek Porel is struggling to maintain his strike rate at 140. Since the end of the seventh over, there have been only three boundaries. DC needs this pair to accelerate quickly, while RR would put the batting unit under immense pressure with a wicket here.
Delhi Capitals are at 76/2 after 10 overs. Porel: 40* (27), Rahul: 27* (24)
After the 10 overs in the first innings, the Rajasthan Royals have taken slight control of the match. The two Sri Lankan spinners, albeit wicketless, have given only 25 runs in their four overs.
Delhi Capitals are at 60/2 after 8 overs. Porel: 34* (21), Rahul: 17* (18)
Wanindu Hasaranga came into the attack to bowl the eighth over of the first innings. The Sri Lankan spinner, after going wicketless in the previous, started positively against the Capitals by giving only four runs in his first over.
Delhi Capitals are at 56/2 after 7 overs. Porel: 32* (19), Rahul: 15* (14)
Tushar Deshpande came back into the attack right after the power play. He made a strong comeback in the early part of the over after conceding 23 runs in his first over. However, he sent down a poor delivery on the fourth ball of the over, which was hit for a six over his head by KL Rahul. The over went for 10 runs.
Delhi Capitals are at 46/2 after 6 overs. Porel: 30* (17), Rahul: 7* (10)
The hosts, Delhi Capitals, had started their innings on a great note. The second over by Tushar Deshpande went for 23 runs. However, RR bounced back strongly in the rest of the power play. Sandeep Sharma provided a great deal of control, having bowled two overs while giving away only seven runs.
Delhi Capitals are at 37/2 after 4 overs. Porel: 27* (13), Rahul: 1* (2)
Karun Nair, after making a fifty after seven years in the IPL in the last game, had to depart for a three-ball duck. Nair was run out by Sandeep Sharma at the bowler’s end. He was running erratically in the previous game, but survived against the Mumbai Indians.
Delhi Capitals are at 34/1 after 3 overs. Porel: 24* (7), Karun: 0* (3)
Jake Fraser McGurk’s poor form in IPL 2025 continues against the Rajasthan Royals. The Australian opener was dismissed by Jofra Archer in the third over after scoring only nine runs.
Delhi Capitals are at 33/0 after 2 overs. Fraser-McGurk: 9* (5), Porel: 24* (7)
Abhishek Porel has welcomed Tushar Deshpande in the second over with a barrage of boundaries. He conceded 23 runs in the over, with the first five balls going four boundaries.
Delhi Capitals are at 10/0 after 1 over. Fraser-McGurk: 9* (5), Porel: 1* (1)
Jake Fraser McGurk, after being dismissed for a golden duck in the previous game, has started his knock on a great note. He struck a couple of fours in the first over against Jofra Archer.
RR won the toss and elected to bowl first at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.
Jake Fraser-McGurk, Abishek Porel, Karun Nair, KL Rahul (wk), Tristan Stubbs, Axar Patel (C), Ashutosh Sharma, Vipraj Nigam, Mitchell Starc, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohit Sharma
Yashasvi Jaiswal, Sanju Samson (C and wk), Riyan Parag, Nitish Rana, Dhruv Jurel, Shimron Hetmyer, Wanindu Hasaranga, Jofra Archer, Maheesh Theekshana, Sandeep Sharma, Tushar Deshpande
Both Delhi Capitals and Rajasthan Royals are coming into this fixture having lost their previous games. While the hosts, DC, suffered a close defeat by 12 runs at the hands of the five-time champions, Mumbai Indians, RR was completely outplayed by Royal Challengers Bengaluru at home.
The hosts will not be expected to make multiple changes to their side. They have a settled unit, however, if Faf du Plessis is available for the clash, Jake Fraser McGurk could make way for the veteran South African batter. With Karun Nair marking a huge return to the IPL, the right-handed batter could see himself being promoted to the top of the order.
The Royals, on the other hand, in spite of playing the same players regularly, are yet to get some results on their side. They have lost their last two matches and would be facing a tough task as they take on the Delhi Capitals.
