Jos Buttler played one of the best knocks of his IPL career. After chasing against RCB and KKR with a century in the previous season, he has repeated the feat once again in 2025, albeit he could not get to the triple-digit score. 

The English keeper sealed the win for the hosts with his unbeaten 97-run knock. Rahul Tewatia smashed a six and a four with Buttler at 97 on the opposite end. 

7:11 PM: Buttler takes down Starc in the 15th over

Gujarat Titans are at 158/2 after 14.5 overs. Need 46 runs in 31 balls. Buttler: 77* (41), Rutherford: 31* (22)

Jos Buttler has taken the attack against Australian pacer Mitchell Starc. The right-handed batter smashed five fours on the first five balls of the 15th over. He went down with cramps, resulting in yet another pause in the game. He has brought the asking rate for the hosts down below nine runs per over. 

6:59 PM: Jos Buttler hits a half-century

Sherfane Rutherford is on the move, and Mohit Sharma, who has come into the attack, has been put under pressure. The veteran pacer was smashed for a couple of sixes on his first two balls by the West Indian batter. Buttler too struck a four to bring up his fifty. Can he carry on and seal the win for the hosts?

Jos Buttler seemed to be cramping while batting a few overs earlier. Since then, the Englishman has taken it upon himself to strike boundaries at will. In his 22-ball knock, Buttler has already smashed five boundaries.

Kuldeep Yadav has been the most consistent bowler for the Capitals in the season so far. He has shown once again why he is one of the best bowlers in the tournament. With only his third delivery in the match, the left-arm wrist spinner dismissed the opposition’s best batter, Sai Sudharsan. 

6:26 PM: Huge power play for the hosts

The hosts have capitalised on the power play restrictions with Sa Sudharsan continuing his fine form in the season. Jos Buttler struck a couple of sixes in a row in the fifth over against Vipraj Nigam before the left-handed opener smashed two fours in the last over of the power play.

Shubman Gill’s wicket has not slowed down the positive intent from Sai Sudharsan and Jos Buttler. The two batters since coming together have scored 27 runs in only 14 balls, with the last two overs from Starc and Axar costing 23 runs. 

6:04 PM: A moment of brilliance from Karun ends Gill’s knock

Captain, Shubman Gill has to make the long walk back to the pavilion after being run out. He clipped the ball towards mid-wicket and took off before being sent back by Sai Sudharsan. Karun Nair, the fielder, made his return to the IPL more rewarding as he struck a direct hit at the keeper’s end. 

5:57 PM: GT starts the chase on a cautious note

Sai Sudharsan and Shubman Gill have statistically been the best opening duo of the season so far. They maintain a left-right combination at the top of the order and run pretty hard between the wickets. The hosts have started the chase cautiously, facing Mitchell Starc in the first over. 

5:36 PM: GT needs 204 runs to win!

Prasidh Krishna, with his double-wicket 18th over certainly applied the brakes. However, Ashutosh Sharma provided the finishing touches to the innings with his blistering knock. The visitors have scored 203 runs in the first innings and would be backing themselves to defend this total. Delhi Capitals used their impact sub in the first innings, replacing Abhishek Porel with Donovan Ferriera. 

5:06 PM: Temperatures rising in Ahmedabad

The temperatures are rising in Ahmedabad, and it is getting to the players. Ishant Sharma took off from the field and was fanned by a towel outside the boundary ropes. DC skipper, Axar Patel, and Prasidh Krishna too got the cramps in their legs in the 16th over. 

4:55 PM: Siraj finally gets a wicket!

Right after the strategic timeout, Mohammed Siraj broke the fifth-wicket stand between Stubbs and Axar by dismissing the former. It was the first wicket of the match for the right-arm pacer. 

4:47 PM: Axar and Stubbs start to push for a huge score

Rashid Khan dropped Tristan Stubbs off his own bowling. Stubbs had struck a six on the previous delivery and was attempting to do the same. But the South African sliced the tossed-up delivery and was given a life. Axar Patel, on the following delivery, smashed another six as Rashid’s last over went for 15 runs. The Afghan spinner remained wicketless in his four overs and gave 38 runs.

Tristan Stubbs and Axar Patel are now starting to press on the accelerator. Axar struck a six over Rashid Khan’s head in the 12th over. In the next over, Stubbs played a scintillating cover drive against Ishant Sharma.

Ishant Sharma started his spell in the 11th over. The veteran pacer gave away only six runs in his first over as DC batters lost their hard-hitting momentum.

Prasidh Krishna gets his second wicket of the match. The right-arm pacer gets the better of Karun Nair with a short-pitched delivery. Hundred is up for the Capitals, and they still have 11 overs of batting left. The visitors will be targeting a score of more than 220, which is the average score for this pitch.

Prasidh Krishna has continued his fine form in IPL 2025. Bowling his first over against the table-toppers, the tall right-arm pacer picked up his first wicket in his first over. He dismissed KL Rahul, who was looking pretty dangerous. It was a toe-crushing yorker from Krishna that got the better of the right-hander.

3:49 PM: Siraj concedes 17 in his second over

Mohammed Siraj’s spell continues to get worse. After conceding 16 runs in his previous over, the right-arm pacer was struck for a four and a six on consecutive deliveries by KL Rahul.

Abhishek Porel’s flying start has ended in the most unfortunate way. The left-handed batter was dismissed on a full-toss by Arshad Khan in the second over. He struck the ball straight to mid-on, where Mohammed Siraj completed the catch. KL Rahul came to the crease at number three at the fall of the first wicket. 

Arshad Khan was struck for a four by Porel in the over before he accounted for his dismissal.
