KL Rahul has gone 2/3 against his former teams this season. He sealed the win against Royal Challengers Bengaluru with an unbeaten knock of 93 runs. Tonight against the Super Giants, Rahul once again remained and scored another half-century. It is his third fifty of the season. Axar Patel at number four too played a quickfire cameo and scored 34 runs in only 20 balls.
Delhi Capitals are at 121/2 after 14 overs. Need 39 runs in 36 balls. Rahul: 39* (31), Axar: 13* (8)
Ravi Bishnoi came on to bowl a third over after conceding 23 runs in his first two overs. He started his third over with a couple of dot balls before being hit for a couple of sixes by Axar Patel on the fourth and sixth balls.
Delhi Capitals are at 105/2 after 12 overs. Need 55 runs in 48 balls. Rahul: 36* (26), Axar: 0* (1)
DC is looking in a hurry to get done with this chase. They are being helped with their cause by some toothless captaincy by Rishabh Pant. The LSG skipper gave away the momentum his team had gained after the sixth over. Markram was given a fresh spell after only 15 runs had come in the previous three overs.
Even though he did pick up a wicket in the spell, Markram’s poor bowling gave away 21 runs in two overs and allowed DC batters to settle and score 16 off Bishnoi’s second over as well.
Delhi Capitals are at 96/1 after 11 overs. Need 64 runs in 54 balls. Porel: 50* (34), Rahul: 28* (23)
As predicted, the over from Markram was probably to have a change of ends for Ravi Bishnoi. However, the move did not work as the spinner was welcomed to his second over with a six down the ground by Porel. The left-handed batter took a single on the very next ball to complete his first fifty of the season. Rahul too struck a six on the next ball as the asking rate, which was eight runs per over at the halfway stage, came down to 7.11.
Delhi Capitals are at 80/1 after 10 overs. Need 80 runs in 60 balls. Porel: 43* (31), Rahul: 19* (20)
There was no need to give Aiden Markram an over at this point of time in the game. The last three overs had gone for only 15 runs, and Ravi Bishnoi still had his three overs left. If Pant had to change ends for Bishnoi, he could have gone to one of his pacers. Markram’s over went for 11 runs, releasing some pressure on DC.
Delhi Capitals are at 69/1 after 9 overs. Need 91 runs in 66 balls. Porel: 35* (27), Rahul: 16* (18)
Lucknow Super Giants have exerted some pressure on the visitors since the end of the power play. While the asking rate of 8.27 does not seem to be out of reach at the moment, a wicket here could make things interesting. The rate of scoring has gone down in the last three overs.
Delhi Capitals are at 66/1 after 8 overs. Need 94 runs in 72 balls. Porel: 33* (24), Rahul: 15* (15)
The duo of Porel and Rahul is batting with a great amount of control. With the asking rate less than eight runs per over, both DC batters are playing risk-free cricket. The last two overs from Digvesh Rathi and Ravi Bishnoi seemed to have brought in some control for the hosts. Only 12 runs were scored off the two overs.
Delhi Capitals are at 54/1 after 6 overs. Need 106 runs in 14 overs. Porel: 25* (17), Rahul: 11* (10)
In spite of losing Karun Nair in the fourth over, Delhi Capitals would be the happier side coming out of this power play. The asking rate, which was eight runs per over at the start of the innings, has dropped down to 7.57. Avesh Khan, who was the hero for LSG in their previous game, conceded 10 runs in his first over after being struck for a four each by Porel and KL Rahul.
If LSG do not pick wickets after the power play, it could be a pretty straightforward chase for a batter of Rahul’s style and calibre.
Delhi Capitals are at 44/1 after 5 overs. Need 116 runs in 15 overs. Porel: 20* (15), Rahul: 6* (5)
For the first time in this innings, a bowler has been given a second over in their opening spell. Prince Yadav, after conceding seven runs in his first over, gave away six runs in his second over. KL Rahul struck the pacer for a four on the fourth ball of the fifth over.
Delhi Capitals are at 38/1 after 4 overs. Need 122 runs in 16 overs. Porel: 19* (14), Rahul: 1* (1)
Aiden Markram bounced in style, dismissing Karun Nair on the fourth ball of the fourth over. The South African has already played a great knock with the bat in hand in the first innings. Can he create the same impact with the ball in hand? Karun Nair had hit the first six of the innings before being dismissed by Markram.
Rishabh Pant, leading the Super Giants, has used four different bowlers for as many overs. Shardul Thakur, Digvesh Rathi, Prince Yadav, and Aiden Markram have bowled the four overs in that order.
Delhi Capitals are at 21/0 after 2 overs. Need 139 runs in 18 overs. Porel: 10* (6), Nair: 9* (6)
For the first time in this season, Digvesh Rathi has bowled the second over of the innings. The right-arm leg spinner conceded only six runs in his first six balls, but he would feel let down by his fielders, who allowed a few extra runs.
Delhi Capitals are at 15/0 after 1 over. Need 145 runs in 19 overs. Porel: 5* (3), Nair: 8* (3)
A classical straight drive from a classical batter on the second ball of the innings fetched Karun Nair his first boundary. He followed it up with an equally classy cover drive. Shardul Thakur, bowling the first over, was on the receiving end of the two boundaries. Abhishek Porel, after playing a poor shot on the first ball of the innings, too, struck a four.
In spite of a wicketless night from Kuldeep Yadav, Delhi Capitals have put on a great bowling performance in the first innings. The visitors have restricted the Super Giants to a score of 159 runs. Coming after a loss in the previous match, where they could not defend 204 runs, they bounced back strongly. A win tonight would mean that the Capitals would have completed the double over Super Giants this season.
For the Super Giants, in spite of a great start from Mitchell Marsh and Aiden Markram, the rest of the batters could not capitalize. Ayush Badoni at the back end of the innings played a cameo, scoring 36 runs in 21 balls. Would LSG square up the head-to-head record in IPL 2025 against DC? Or will the Axar Patel-led Capitals take away the two points?
Lucknow Super Giants are at 130/4 after 17 overs. Miller: 11* (10), Badoni: 10* (10)
A wicketless night for Kuldeep Yadav. The left-arm chinaman has missed out on taking a wicket for the first time this season. He is placed second on the list for Purple Cap despite not getting a single breakthrough against LSG.
Lucknow Super Giants are at 124/4 after 16 overs. Miller: 8* (6), Badoni: 8* (8)
Ayush Badoni gets a second life in the 16th over. Coming into the game as an impact sub, the right-handed batter was dropped by Tristan Stubbs, who is one of the best fielders in the DC camp. To make matters worse, Badoni struck his first four of the night in the same over.
With the promotions of Abdul Samad, David Miller, and now, Ayush Badoni the big question that has risen is where will Rishabh Pant bat. The LSG skipper has had a poor tournament so far, and as LSG is looking to up the ante, maybe the hosts have opted out of sending an out-of-form batter into the middle.
Lucknow Super Giants are at 110/4 after 14 overs. Miller: 2* (2)
Mukesh Kumar has bowled a highly impactful over, getting two wickets in the 14th over right after the strategic timeout. The tactic of sending Abdul Samad up the order does not work for the hosts. The right-handed batter played a scratchy net negative knock, scoring only two runs off eight deliveries. He was put out of his misery by Mukesh Kumar on the second ball of the 14th over. On the final delivery of the over, he dismissed Mitchell Marsh with a great reverse swinging yorker rattling the off stump.
David Miller, too, was given a promotion in the batting order and came in to bat ahead of his skipper, Rishabh Pant. Ayush Badoni too came to bat ahead of Pant as an impact sub.
The rate of scoring has also gone down significantly for the hosts. The last three overs have gone for only 12 runs and resulted in three wickets.
Lucknow Super Giants are at 99/2 after 12 overs. Marsh: 38* (30), Samad: 0* (4)
No fireworks for Nicholas Pooran tonight! Mitchell Starc yet again gets the better of the left-handed batter. The Australian pacer has had the wood over Pooran five times in their last seven meetings. It was a slower bouncer, which the West Indies batter played on to his stumps via an underedge.
Abdul Samad, after his heroics against the Rajasthan Royals, has been handed a promotion in the batting order as he walks out to bat at number four. However, the right-handed batter has struggled to make optimum contact with the ball. He played four dots with only a single coming off Starc’s third over.
Lucknow Super Giants are at 98/1 after 11 overs. Marsh: 37* (29), Pooran: 9* (4)
Kuldeep Yadav came in to bowl the moment Nicholas Pooran, the second-highest run-scorer in the season, came to the crease. The first couple of balls Kuldeep bowled against Pooran, he was swept to two boundaries.
Lucknow Super Giants are at 87/1 after 10 overs. Marsh: 35* (27)
Finally, some respite for the Capitals. Dushmantha Chameera, playing his first game of the season, has broken the opening partnership between Marsh and Markram by dismissing the latter.
Lucknow Super Giants are at 82/0 after 9 overs. Markram: 50* (30), Marsh: 32* (24)
Mitchell Starc, after bowling a single over in the power play, came back into the attack to bowl the ninth over. The left-arm pacer somewhat provided some control for the Capitals as he gave away only seven runs in the over. However, Aiden Markram, with some quick running between the wickets, reached his fifty in 30 balls in the over.
Lucknow Super Giants are at 75/0 after 8 overs. Markram: 46* (27), Marsh: 29* (21)
Aiden Markram has gotten a reprieve early in his innings. The South African batter hit a six on the first ball of the eighth over. On the very next delivery, he top-edged a delivery that fell away from any of the fielders. Mitchell Starc, running from long-on, attempted a diving catch but could not hang on to it. Vipraj Nigam, the bowler, was also hit for a four by Mitchell Marsh in the over.
Lucknow Super Giants are at 61/0 after 7 overs. Markram: 38* (24), Marsh: 23* (18)
It is pretty rare that a spinner bowls four overs on the trot. However, Axar Patel has bowled out his full quota of four overs. He took the new ball and bowled his overs while conceding 29 runs.
Lucknow Super Giants are at 51/0 after 6 overs. Markram: 30* (20), Marsh: 21* (16)
Aiden Markram and Mitchell Marsh are putting on a show for their fans at the Ekana Stadium. The two batters remained unbeaten in the power play and made full use of the fielding restrictions.
Axar Patel, after conceding only 10 runs in his first two bowled an expensive fifth over. The left-arm spinner conceded nine runs in the over. Dushmantha Chameera, playing his first game of the season, bowled the last over of the power play. He was welcomed into his spell with a huge six by Marsh on the first ball. He did produce a good delivery to Markram on the fourth ball of the over, but wasn’t rewarded for his efforts.
Lucknow Super Giants are at 31/0 after 4 overs. Markram: 24* (15), Marsh: 7* (9)
Mukesh Kumar replaced Mitchell Starc in the attack, coming on to bowl the fourth over. The right-arm pacer was smashed for a four by Markram, welcoming him into the attack. The South African batter struck a six as well in the over as Mukesh bowled an expensive over.
Lucknow Super Giants are at 19/0 after 3 overs. Markram: 13* (10), Marsh: 6* (8)
Bowling his second over, Axar Patel was once again consistent with his lines and lengths. The DC skipper, however, did not receive much support from his fielders, with Vipraj Nigam and long-off failing to stop a four.
Lucknow Super Giants are at 12/0 after 2 overs. Markram: 11* (8), Marsh: 1* (4)
It is Mitchell Starc from the opposite side for the Delhi Capitals. The left-arm pacer did not bowl the first over but was introduced into the attack in the second over. He was right on the money for the second and third ball of the over before being hit for a six by Aiden Markram.
Lucknow Super Giants are at 3/0 after 1 over. Markram: 2* (3), Marsh: 1* (3)
For the first time this season, captain Axar Patel has taken the new ball. Unlike Mitchell Starc, the left-arm spinner came on to bowl the first over. Both LSG opening batters, Aiden Markram and Mitchell Marsh, are better players against pacers.
DC won the toss and elected to bowl first at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow.

It is a battle of exes as Rishabh Pant gears up to lead Lucknow Super Giants against his former team. KL Rahul who captained the Super Giants in the previous two seasons will feature in the clash as well, however, he will be keeping the wickets for Delhi Capitals. Each player from both teams will be raring to take the field with the key battle in the middle overs featuring the likes of Nicholas Pooran and Kuldeep Yadav.
Avesh Khan, who suffered a blow to his hand in the previous game, could miss out on this clash. Mayank Yadav who is expected to be fit enough to play tonight could replace the right-arm pacer for his first game of the season.
