11:25 PM: RCB wins by 12 runs

Hardik Pandya with his onslaught of boundaries and sixes provided a minor scare to the visitors. However, the mammoth target proved to be out of their reach as Krunal Pandya not only defended 19 runs off the last over but also picked up three wickets. The experienced bowling duo of Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Josh Hazlewood struck at the most crucial time. The Indian pacer dismissed Tilak in the 18th over while Hazlewood got the better of the MI skipper on the first ball of the 19th over. The two overs from them went for only 22 runs, while the hosts needed 41 runs in 18 balls.

11:05 PM: Tilak hits his first fifty of the season

Mumbai Indians are at 181/4 after 17 overs. Need 41 runs in 18 balls. Tilak: 56* (28), Hardik: 35* (11)

With MI needing 41 runs in the last three overs, the big question is who will blink first. The game is right in the balance and those who will hold their nerves will take the two points away from Wankhede Stadium. Bhuvneshwar, Hazlewood, and Krunal have an over left each and will close the innings out.

10:56 PM: MI is not far away from a historic chase

Mumbai Indians are at 170/4 after 16 overs. Need 52 runs in 24 balls. Tilak: 46* (23), Hardik: 34* (10)

The Mumbai Indians thanks to some serious power-hitting from Hardik Pandya have made a comeback in this contest. The skipper has led from the front with the bat in hand and is playing a gem of an innings. Tilak Varma too is playing a fiery knock and has put MI right back into this chase.

10:50 PM: Pandya brothers face-off

Mumbai Indians are at 157/4 after 15 overs. Need 65 runs in 30 balls. Tilak: 35* (19), Hardik: 33* (8)

Hardik Pandya has lit up the Wankhede Stadium. Facing Krunal, Hardik welcomed his elder brother with a couple of sixes in his third over. He took a single on the next ball after Krunal bowled a couple of wides. The onslaught from Hardik has brought his side back into this contest.

10:44 PM: Hardik goes 6,4,6,4

Mumbai Indians are at 138/4 after 14 overs. Need 84 runs in 36 balls. Tilak: 31* (16), Hardik: 20* (5)

Hardik Pandya opened his account with a six on the first ball he faced. He smashed the next ball for a four. He repeated the same pattern and hit another six followed by a four. It was Josh Hazlewood who was on the receiving end of this brutal attack. The Australian pacer had gone for only six runs in his first two overs, however, he ended up conceding 22 runs in his third over.

10:40 PM: Tilak Varma gets going

Mumbai Indians are at 116/4 after 13 overs. Need 106 runs in 42 balls. Tilak: 30* (15), Hardik: 0* (0)

Tilak Varma, unfortunately, had to be retired in the previous game against LSG. But, the left-hander is keeping MI’s hopes alive in this game. He smashed three boundaries in the 13th over against Suyash Sharma who had been the most economical bowler across both teams before this over.

10:35 PM: SKY’s luck runs out

Mumbai Indians are at 97/4 after 12 overs. Need 125 runs in 48 balls. Tilak: 11* (9)

Suryakumar Yadav’s luck finally ran out. The Indian batter had been dropped twice before being dismissed. In the 11th over, it was Krunal Pandya who misread the trajectory of the ball, fielding in the deep. In the next over, he presented another opportunity to dismiss him when the bowler, Yash Dayal, and wicketkeeper, Jitesh Sharma collided as they spilled a skier. However, the left-arm pacer bounced back in the over and dismissed him on the final ball of the over.

10:26 PM: Suyash Sharma continues to be economical

Mumbai Indians are at 90/3 after 11 overs. Need 132 runs in 54 balls. Suryakumar: 27* (24), Tilak: 5* (5)

Suyash Sharma has been the silent hero for RCB in the second innings. Even though the young leg spinner has not picked up a wicket, he created enough pressure for Krunal Pandya to dismiss Will Jacks. He has only conceded 15 runs in his three overs so far.

10:21 PM: MI three down at the halfway stage

Mumbai Indians are at 84/3 after 10 overs. Need 138 runs in 60 balls. Suryakumar: 23* (21), Tilak: 5* (2)

Krunal Pandya gets his man. Returning to his former home venue, the left-arm spinner went for 14 runs in his first over. However, he started his second over on a great note. After conceding only a single run in the first three balls of the over, Krunal bowled a short ball which Will Jacks hit straight to Virat Kohli at deep square leg. The delivery was bowled at a 117 kmph speed.

10:11 PM: Krunal Pandya goes for 14

Mumbai Indians are at 73/2 after 8 overs. Need 149 runs in 72 balls. Jacks: 22* (13), Suryakumar: 17* (16)

Krunal Pandya playing against his former franchise, bowled an expensive 14-run over as MI looks to step on the gas pedal. He was smashed for three fours.

10:00 PM: MI lose the plot in the powerplay

Mumbai Indians are at 54/2 after 6 overs. Need 168 runs in 14 overs. Jacks: 14* (7), Suryakumar: 6* (10)

Thanks to the two wickets they picked in the powerplay, RCB have tightened their grip over this mouth-watering clash. Josh Hazlewood was the first-change bowler and he has maintained a great deal of accuracy with his lines and lengths. The Australian pacer has bowled test-match lengths in the powerplay and was rewarded for his consistency. His two overs went for only six runs.

9:54 PM: MI is in desperate need of a SKY-special

Mumbai Indians are at 52/2 after 5 overs. Need 170 runs in 15 overs. Jacks: 13* (6), Suryakumar: 5* (5)

Suryakumar Yadav has played some great innings in his career in the IPL. MI would hope that he plays out another special knock. The hosts would know that they would need to play out an almost perfect game to get their second win of the season.

9:49 PM: Hazlewood picks up his first wicket

Mumbai Indians are at 38/2 after 4 overs. Need 184 runs in 16 overs. Jacks: 4* (3), Suryakumar: 0* (2)

Like Rohit, Ryan Rickelton too was looking in great touch before he was dismissed by Josh Hazlewood. The South African missed out on a delivery pitched on leg-stump and was trapped in front of the stumps. The on-field umpire had given it not out thinking the ball pitched outside leg. However, a successful review from RCB meant that the left-handed batter had to make the long way back to the dressing room.

9:43 PM: Bhuvneshwar continues to go for runs

Mumbai Indians are at 34/1 after 3 overs. Need 188 runs in 17 overs. Rickelton: 13* (6), Jacks: 4* (3)

Ryan Rickelton smashed a couple of fours in a row in the third over to keep the runs flowing. Even though the hosts lost their most experienced batter early in this mammoth chase, Rickelton has ensured they are still in the game.

9:38 PM: Rohit departs for another low score

Mumbai Indians are at 25/1 after 2 overs. Need 197 runs in 18 overs. Rickelton: 4* (1), Jacks: 4* (2)

Rohit Sharma’s poor start to the 18th season of the IPL continues as the veteran batter is dismissed by Yash Dayal. The right-handed batter was looking in great touch tonight and it felt like a big score was there for taking. He smashed a couple of fours on the trot against Dayal before being bowled by the left-arm pacer.

9:33 PM: An expensive start for Bhuvneshwar Kumar

Mumbai Indians are at 13/0 after 1 over. Need 209 runs in 19 overs. Rohit: 9* (5), Rickelton: 4* (1)

Rohit Sharma survived a close call on the first ball of the over. He had edged the first ball from Bhuvneshwar Kumar which almost carried to the first slip. He showed positive intent in the rest of the over and even smashed his first six of the match.

9:14 PM: MI needs 222 runs to win

Thanks to a captain’s knock from Rajat Patidar and an equally impactful innings from Virat Kohli, the visitors ends the first innings with a massive total of 221 runs. Jitesh Sharma played a quickfire cameo in the backend of the first essay.

All eyes were on Jasprit Bumrah as he played his first game in the 18th season of the IPL. The Indian pacer was at his best in spite of not picking a single wicket in the match. He conceded only 29 runs in his four overs.

9:03 PM: Bumrah bowls a quiet over

Royal Challengers Bengaluru are at 198/4 after 18 overs. Patidar: 64* (31), Jitesh: 20* (9)

Jasprit Bumrah, bowling the 18th over showed why he is arguably the best bowler in the world. After the previous over went for 23 runs, the right-arm pacer conceded only six singles in his over to pull things back for the hosts.

8:58 PM: Pandya goes for 23 runs in his final over

Royal Challengers Bengaluru are at 192/4 after 17 overs. Patidar: 61* (28), Jitesh: 17* (6)

Hardik Pandya came to bowl his final over, his opposite number, Rajat Patidar hit three boundaries on the trot before Jitesh Sharma closed out the over with another boundary. The over went for 23 runs. Thanks to the big over, RCB will now fancy themselves getting to a score of at least 220 in the first innings.

Jasprit Bumrah still has two overs up his sleeve. How much of an impact will the Indian pacer make in his first game since returning from his back injury?

8:52 PM: How much can RCB target in the final four overs?

Royal Challengers Bengaluru are at 169/4 after 16 overs. Patidar: 44* (24), Jitesh: 12* (4)

Jitesh Sharma smashed a couple of lusty blows against Trent Boult in the 16th over. The wicketkeeper batter is an aggressive batter by nature and he showcased his hitting prowess in the over.

RCB would be looking to up the ante as they try to maximize the last four overs of the first innings.

8:46 PM: Hardik Pandya gets two in the over

Royal Challengers Bengaluru are at 151/4 after 15 overs. Patidar: 37* (21), Jitesh: 1* (1)

It has been a pretty disappointing season for most of the MI players. Their skipper, Hardik Pandya too has struggled with the bat. But he has been in some scintillating form with the ball in hand. After picking up his first five-wicket haul in the previous game, Pandya has now taken the big wicket of Virat Kohli in the 15th over. Just two balls later, he dismissed Liam Livingstone for a silver duck.

Kohli scored 67 runs in 42 balls smashing eight fours and a couple of sixes. The right-handed batter was looking to add another six to his tally when he was caught at deep square by Naman Dhir.

8:38 PM: RCB targeting a score of 200+

Royal Challengers Bengaluru are at 143/2 after 14 overs. Kohli: 67* (41) Patidar: 32* (19)

Rajat Patidar and Virat Kohli did not waste any time before taking the attack right after the strategic powerplay. The RCB skipper struck Mitchell Santner for a six on the first ball of the 14th over. Kohli then smashed a four down the ground as he tried to up the ante. Patidar then struck another six to close the 20-run over.

8:32 PM: Hardik bowls an eventful over

Royal Challengers Bengaluru are at 123/2 after 13 overs. Kohli: 60* (38) Patidar: 19* (16)

Hardik Pandya came back into the attack and bowled an eventful over. He was struck for a couple of fours by RCB skipper, Rajat Patidar as the over went for 11 runs.

Moreover, the MI skipper since the powerplay has been pretty great with his bowling changes. He has used his bowlers in short spells and has contained the flow of runs.

8:25 PM: RCB struggles to maintain its pace

Royal Challengers Bengaluru are at 112/2 after 12 overs. Kohli: 60* (38) Patidar: 8* (10)

Royal Challengers Bengaluru have struggled to maintain the same level of pace since the end of the powerplay. After scoring 73 runs in the first six overs, the visitors have only managed to score 39 runs in the next six. The boundary on the fourth ball of the 12th over was the first one in almost three overs.

8:17 PM: MI starts to climb back at the halfway stage

Royal Challengers Bengaluru are at 100/2 after 10 overs. Kohli: 53* (32) Patidar: 3* (4)

Thanks to the wicket of Devdutt Padikkal in the ninth over, the hosts have started to climb their way back into the game. Young Vignesh Puthur broke the stand in his first over. Padikkal played a crucial knock of 37 runs in 22 balls.

8:10 PM: Hardik comes into the attack

Royal Challengers Bengaluru are at 85/1 after 8 overs. Kohli: 44* (27) Padikkal: 35* (19)

Skipper, Hardik Pandya threw himself into the attack to break the important stand. In spite of bowling a quiet over, the right-arm pacer failed to pick up a wicket. Both Padikkal and Kohli are steadily moving towards their fifties.

8:05 PM: Santner bowls with some control

Royal Challengers Bengaluru are at 81/1 after 7 overs. Kohli: 42* (23) Padikkal: 34* (17)

Mitchell Santner came to the attack right after the powerplay. The left-arm spinner bowled a quiet over after the MI bowlers were taken to the cleaners by Kohli and Padikkal in the powerplay. Barring a boundary on the fifth ball by Kohli, Santner was pretty accurate with his lines and lengths.

7:58 PM: RCB bosses the powerplay

Royal Challengers Bengaluru are at 73/1 after 6 overs. Kohli: 36* (19) Padikkal: 32* (15)

In spite of losing Phil Salt on the second ball of the powerplay, RCB has bossed the powerplay in the first innings. Devdutt Padikkal after being criticized far too often for his strike rate has once again aggressively started his innings. He has already smashed three sixes, two of which came against Deepak Chahar in the final over of the powerplay.

7:53 PM: Could Kohli go big tonight?

Royal Challengers Bengaluru are at 53/1 after 5 overs. Kohli: 35* (18) Padikkal: 14* (10)

Virat Kohli has not looked in such a good touch in the four matches RCB has played this season. The leading run-scorer in the IPL has shown why he is one of the best in the business. Hardik Pandya gambled by handing Will Jacks an over in the powerplay. It did not work for the MI skipper as Kohli started and finished the over with two fours.

7:50 PM: Bumrah bowls an expensive over to begin his campaign

Royal Challengers Bengaluru are at 43/1 after 4 overs. Kohli: 26* (13) Padikkal: 13* (9)

Jasprit Bumrah bowling his first over in IPL 2025 was smashed for a six by Virat Kohli. The right-handed batter looks in great touch and would have to go big tonight to ensure a win for his team.

7:45 PM: Trent Boult bowls an expensive over

Royal Challengers Bengaluru are at 33/1 after 3 overs. Kohli: 18* (9) Padikkal: 11* (7)

Devdutt Padikkal struck the first six of the match in the third over of the clash. Kohli after getting the strike too smashed a couple of fours in the over including a signature cover drive to end the over.

7:41 PM: Virat Kohli gets into his groove

Royal Challengers Bengaluru are at 17/1 after 2 overs. Kohli: 9* (6) Padikkal: 4* (4)

Virat Kohli after surviving an early LBW call has gotten into his groove against Deepak Chahar. The right-handed batter collected his first boundary in the second over and ran hard between the wickets as well.

7:35 PM: Lightning Boult strikes at Wankhede!

Royal Challengers Bengaluru are at 8/1 after 1 over. Kohli: 0* (0) Padikkal: 4* (4)

Trent Boult adds another wicket to his famous tally of first-over scalps. The left-arm pacer was struck for a four on the first ball of the match by Phil Salt. However, he made a great comeback and rattled the stums to send the Englishman back to the dressing room.

MI vs RCB Predicted Playing XIIs

Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bengaluru are two of the biggest teams in the history of the Indian Premier League. While the hosts, MI, have won five titles, RCB are still searching for their first trophy. However, despite the glaring differences between the team’s success, it is pretty even-steven when it comes to the popularity contest.

Arguably cricket’s biggest superstar, Virat Kohli is no longer the captain of RCB, however, still manages to draw the highest amount of crowds to the stadiums. On the other hand, the return of Jasprit Bumrah is one of the most highly anticipated comebacks in the sport in the year. The pacer will come to an MI side that already features the likes of Hardik Pandya, Suryakumar Yadav, and Rohit Sharma. These three are no strangers to pulling crowds at the Wankhede Stadium themselves.

MI Predicted Playing XII

Rohit Sharma, Ryan Rickelton (wk), Will Jacks, Suryakumar Yadav, Tilak Varma, Naman Dhir, Hardik Pandya (C), Mitchell Santner, Deepak Chahar, Trent Boult, Vignesh Puthur, Jasprit Bumrah

RCB Predicted Playing XII

Phil Salt (wk), Virat Kohli, Devdutt Padikkal, Rajat Patidar (C), Liam Livingstone, Jitesh Sharma, Krunal Pandya, Tim David, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Josh Hazlewood, Yash Dayal, Rasikh Salam Dar
