It was a huge downfall for the Rajasthan Royals in the last two overs. After failing to chase nine runs off the last over twice in their previous two games, tonight they could not score 18 runs in the last two overs.
Rajasthan Royals are at 166/5 after 17 overs. Need 40 runs in 18 balls. Jurel: 32* (28), Dubey: 4* (3)
It has been a sensational comeback from Josh Hazlewood in the game. He conceded 26 runs in the first 10 balls he bowled. However, since then, the veteran Australian pacer has picked up two wickets and has given only six runs in his next eight balls.
Rajasthan Royals are at 160/4 after 16 overs. Need 46 runs in 24 balls. Jurel: 31* (26), Hetmyer: 11* (7)
Dhruv Jurel, after scoring only 18 runs in his first 23 balls, has struck a couple of sixes. He will need to continue with his attacking intent if the visitors go on to win this clash.
Rajasthan Royals are at 140/4 after 14 overs. Need 66 runs in 36 balls. Jurel: 17* (19), Hetmyer: 5* (2)
Krunal Pandya has turned the game on its head. He picked up the wicket that brought Royal Challengers Bengaluru back into the game. In his third over, the left-arm spinner dismissed Nitish Rana and has possibly sealed the game for his side.
Rajasthan Royals are at 128/3 after 12 overs. Need 78 runs in 48 balls. Nitish: 26* (18), Jurel: 14* (13)
The visitors had scored 110 runs in nine overs before Riyan Parag was dismissed. However, since his dismissal, the rate of scoring has gone down drastically. The last three overs have resulted in only 18 runs. The asking rate too has gone close to 10 runs per over, which was less than nine just a few overs ago.
Rajasthan Royals are at 113/3 after 10 overs. Need 94 runs in 60 balls. Nitish: 23* (15), Jurel: 2* (4)
Krunal Pandya takes only one ball to create an impact in the game. The left-arm spinner dismissed the opposition skipper on the first ball of the 10th over. He convinced the on-field umpire to give Dhruv Jurel out on the field, but an inside edge saved the wicketkeeper batter.
Rajasthan Royals are at 99/2 after 8 overs. Need 107 runs in 72 balls. Nitish: 12* (9), Parag: 21* (8)
Riyan Parag seems to have luck riding on his side. Three of his edges have fetched him three boundaries and 14 runs. The RR skipper managed to connect one with the middle of the bat as well, which went the distance. Suyash Sharma, coming off as an impact sub, was taken for 12 runs in his first over.
Rajasthan Royals are at 87/2 after 7 overs. Need 119 runs in 13 overs. Nitish: 11* (8), Parag: 10* (3)
While the style of batting employed by the Rajasthan Royals may not look pretty, it is fetching them some runs at a quick pace. Both Nitish Rana and Riyan Parag have started their knocks right from where the two opening batters left off.
Rajasthan Royals are at 72/2 after 6 overs. Need 134 runs in 14 overs. Nitish: 6* (4), Parag: 0* (1)
Yashasvi Jaiswal’s mindset, in spite of losing his opening partner, remained the same. The 23-year-old was trying to make sure that his side is ahead of the eight ball in the power play. However, he played one shot too many against Hazlewood and perished on the penultimate delivery of the power play. The Australian bowler made a strong comeback after being hit for 26 runs in 10 balls by the left-handed batter.
Rajasthan Royals are at 58/1 after 5 overs. Need 148 runs in 15 overs. Jaiswal: 35* (14), Nitish: 6* (4)
Vaibhav Suryavanshi continued to throw the kitchen sink in his every shot. On the first ball of the fifth over, he attempted a hook shot but managed to connect with only the top edge. The ball still flew over the fine-leg boundary for a six. Bhuvneshwar Kumar made a strong comeback on the very next ball and clean bowled the 14-year-old with a knuckle ball. Nitish Rana, coming to the crease, opened his account with a six on the third ball he faced.
Rajasthan Royals are at 46/0 after 4 overs. Need 160 runs in 16 overs. Jaiswal: 35* (14), Suryavanshi: 10* (10)
Josh Hazlewood came into the attack in the fourth over. The Australian pacer seemed to have brought some control in the innings with his over. He bowled three dot balls to start his spell before being hit for three fours in a row.
Rajasthan Royals are at 34/0 after 3 overs. Need 172 runs in 17 overs. Jaiswal: 23* (8), Suryavanshi: 10* (10)
The RR batters are not holding back and are trying to make the best of the restrictions in the power play. Vaibhav Suryavanshi, after impressing many fans and experts in his first game, has attempted to hit a six on almost every ball he has faced so far. While Jaiswal is already striking at a rate of more than 250, the teenager is trying to match him for every shot. However, he is not getting the same contact as he was getting against the Super Giants. Maybe the slowness of the surface is not allowing him to time his shots.
Rajasthan Royals are at 26/0 after 2 overs. Need 180 runs in 18 overs. Jaiswal: 23* (8), Suryavanshi: 2* (4)
Vaibhav Suryavanshi is not gonna die wondering. He is looking to smash every ball. While the teenager is struggling to make any contact at the moment, his batting partner Jasiwal has already struck a couple of fours and sixes.
Rajasthan Royals are at 8/0 after 1 over. Need 198 runs in 19 overs. Jaiswal: 7* (4), Suryavanshi: 1* (2)
It was Vaibhav Suryavanshi in the previous game who hit the first ball for a six. Tonight, Yashasvi Jaiswal struck a six on the very first ball of the innings.
Virat Kohli and Devdutt Padikkal carried on with their form from the previous game. The two batters struck fifties and were batting brilliantly. When these two were at the crease, it looked like the hosts would end up with a score of 215 or more. However, Jofra Archer broke the third-wicket partnership in the 16th over before Sandeep Sharma picked up two wickets in the 17th over. It looked like the hosts would end up with a below-par score, but a flourish from Jitesh Sharma and Tim David in the death overs allowed RCB to reach a score of 205 runs.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru are at 167/4 after 17 overs. David: 5* (6), Jitesh: 4* (1)
Sandeep Sharma has carried on from where Jofra Archer left off in the previous over. The Indian pacer, after bowling a wide delivery to start the 17th over, dismissed Devdutt Padikkal thanks to a juggling catch from Nitish Rana. RCB skipper, Rajat Patidar, came to bat at number five, but his stay at the crease was cut short as he was dismissed in the same over by Sandeep Sharma.
Both set batters are back in the pavilion, and RR could stage a comeback here. Can they restrict the hosts to under 190?
Royal Challengers Bengaluru are at 160/2 after 16 overs. Padikkal: 50* (26), David: 4* (5)
Tim David came in at number four after a great start from the top-order batters. He struck a four on the second delivery he faced, but could not score a single run in the other four balls from Jofra Archer, who is breathing fire at the moment.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru are at 156/2 after 15.1 overs. Padikkal: 50* (26)
Jofra Archer came into the attack and struck with his first ball of the spell. The right-arm pacer outfoxed Virat Kohli with an off-pace delivery. The wicket came as a respite for the visitors, who were looking all out of sorts in the last few overs.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru are at 156/1 after 15 overs. Kohli: 70* (41), Padikkal: 50* (26)
Tushar Deshpande came into the attack as Riyan Parag turned to his other bowling options in search of a wicket. The right-arm pacer could not provide the breakthrough and was punished for some poor bowling. Padikkal smashed a six on the first ball of the 15th over before being hit for another six by Kohli. The left-handed batter ended the over with another six and reached his fifty off 26 balls.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru are at 134/1 after 14 overs. Kohli: 63* (39), Padikkal: 37* (22)
It’s not often that the first six of the match at Chinnaswamy Stadium comes in the 14th over, however, such has been the surface here in Bengaluru that scoring has not been that easy. Riyan Parag was smashed down the ground not once but twice in the 14th over, once each by both RCB batters.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru are at 119/1 after 13 overs. Kohli: 56* (36), Padikkal: 29* (19)
Devdutt Padikkal has been in some great form this season. While he might not have the same number of runs as Virat Kohli, the left-handed batter has made a similar level of impact for RCB. He has already hit four boundaries in his 19-ball knock. However, Padikkal was given a reprieve by Tushar Deshpande, who shelved a catch that should have been taken.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru are at 109/1 after 12 overs. Kohli: 52* (33), Padikkal: 23* (16)
After failing to make a mark in the first three games at the Chinnaswamy Stadium, the King finally stepped up. It was only a matter of time before he would have come to the party on his home ground. He scored his first fifty of the season here tonight, reaching the milestone in 32 balls.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru are at 94/1 after 11 overs. Kohli: 42* (29), Padikkal: 18* (14)
After a few quite overs, the RCB batters got themselves back on track in the 11th over. 11 runs came off Hasaranga’s third over, with Devdutt Padikkal hitting a four on the first ball.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru are at 83/1 after 10 overs. Kohli: 40* (27), Padikkal: 10* (10)
Rajasthan Royals have strung a sort of a comeback since the end of the power play. After conceding almost 60 runs in the first six overs, the bowling pair of Wanindu Hasaranga and Riyan Parag, bowling in tandem, has allowed 24 runs in four overs. In the process, they have also got themselves the first wicket of the night.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru are at 69/1 after 8 overs. Kohli: 33* (22), Padikkal: 3* (3)
Looking at how spin broke the opening partnership between Kohli and Salt, Riyan Parag brought himself into the attack. The RR skipper was hit for a four by Kohli in the over, but still went for only seven runs in his first six balls.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru are at 62/1 after 7 overs. Kohli: 28* (18), Padikkal: 1* (1)
Wanindu Hasaranga came into the attack to bowl the first over of the power play. The Sri Lankan spinner made an immediate impact on the game as he picked up a wicket on the fourth ball of the over. The right-arm leg spinner dismissed Salt as he attempted to slog sweep a slower delivery.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru are at 59/0 after 6 overs. Salt: 25* (20), Kohli: 27* (16)
Sandeep Sharma, who has a great record against Virat Kohli, had to be brought into the attack to end the power play. The right-arm pacer bowled some great deliveries, but Kohli played a textbook off-drive to strike his fifth four of the over.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru are at 51/0 after 5 overs. Salt: 23* (17), Kohli: 21* (13)
Phil Salt has made the most of the reprieve provided to him by Riyan Parag. After scoring only nine runs off his first 12 balls, the English batter has taken the attack against the visitors. In his next five balls, Salt has struck three boundaries and scored 18 runs.
Tushar Deshpande, bowling his first over in the game, was all over the place in the fifth over. The right-arm pacer was welcomed into his attack with a couple of fours on the first two balls by Salt.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru are at 37/0 after 4 overs. Salt: 14* (14), Kohli: 16* (10)
Riyan Parag’s drop in the second over continues to prove to be expensive. While it was an opportunity to break this opening stand, it would have also sent the dangerous-looking Phil Salt back to the dressing room. While he is only striking at run-a-ball currently, Salt could prove to be the difference between a win and a loss for the visitors.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru are at 28/0 after 3 overs. Salt: 7* (10), Kohli: 14* (8)
The two RCB batters have started their innings slowly. What has helped their cause is some extra runs from Archer in the first over. In their three games at the venue, the batters have often found themselves guilty of trying too hard and in the process losing their wickets. A streaky inside edge allowed Kohli to collect his second boundary of the match. However, it was a shot of authority from the King to smash another boundary to end the third over.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru are at 18/0 after 2 overs. Salt: 6* (9), Kohli: 5* (3)
While Jofra Archer found some extra bounce in the first over, his bowling partner, Fazalhaq Farooqi, got some lateral movement. He induced a chance on the fourth ball of the over from Phil Salt. However, skipper, Riyan Parag, in spite of putting in a dive to his right, could not complete the catch. The English batter, after getting a reprieve, struck a four to finish the over.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru are at 11/0 after 1 over. Salt: 1* (4), Kohli: 4* (2)
Jofra Archer, bowling to his compatriot, created a few troubles for Phil Salt. The right-arm pacer found some extra bounce at the surface in Chinnaswamy Stadium. However, the extra bounce worked against him. He bowled a wide which went over Virat Kohli and the keeper’s head for a four. On the very next delivery, Kohli gloved a delivery that went above the slip fielder for another boundary.
RR won the toss and elected to bowl first at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru and the Rajasthan Royals feature some of the best players in their ranks. The hosts have played some great cricket in the tournament so far. In the five games they have won and a game they lost, there have been five different players of the match. On the other hand, the Rajasthan Royals have played well in patches. They come into this fixture on the back of four losses in a row. However, given how RCB has performed at home this season, the Riyan Parag-led side would know that this game could be the time when they turn things around.
